When I bought my shotgun mic I knew that I was eventually going to have to purchase a windjammer. Having progressed to more outdoor work I done my research on windjammers, manly on durability and what they react to wind in terms of interference. Talking to a few different camera people they were all recommending Rycote.
The main reason I choose this kit was firstly its suitability to my shotgun mic, the Rode NTG4+, and secondly because of its accessibility to the microphone itself. I felt that its ability to easily slip on and off was a definite plus for me, as I am often moving from indoors to outdoors whilst on location and not having to remove the microphone from its clip is another thing I do not to worry about. The shockmount itself remains pretty uniform but never the less does its job. I do however find the hotshoe part of the clip slightly stiff with not much room for maneuver but this of course works to your advantage when in place, in my case mounted to a camera.
Having worked with Rycote products in the past and having got a wide opinion on windjammers I knew what I was getting when I made this purchase and I can honestly say it didn?t let me down. I hope to have this windjammer for many years to come and when the time comes to buy another it will be an easy decision.
