Mouthpiece will a really solid core sound

The quality of the mouthpiece is fantastic; the gold plating is perfect and workmanship is great. The magnetic clasp box it comes in is a nice touch too, perfectly usable to keep it safe in your gig bag or case, albeit it isn't small.

The rim doesn't feel as quite as wide as the Alliance RM1 I use on Cornet (both are 17mm) but this might be because the SG1 has quite a defined bite to the edge of the rim. It's definitely 'sharper' than most mouthpieces I've used but it's not a deal breaker for me. Articulation is crisp and flexbility is good.

The cup is deep for a trumpet piece and as a result gives a huge tone but it does still sing in the upper register without any issue. There is a bit more resistance to the mouthpiece than i'm used to but once you adapt, it plays really well in all registers.

Just don't open it up unless you're over a sink ;)
