3/5 for quality, expect it to break after ~2000-3000 hours of use (or about a year or two).
It needs a bit of reinforcement in three areas:
1. Where the cable splits in two, the tube present there will become loose. I Replaced it with some electrical tape.
2. Also at the 3.5mm jack, the bendy part will break loose eventually with daily use, limiting lifespan.
3. Ear cup connectors, same thing as in the 3.5mm jack. Expect to put some shrink tube over them if you don't want them to break.

Expensive but it works
DimitriosB 17.03.2017
I bought this for my Senheiser HD600 headphones since the original cable stopped working. So far it hasn't presented any problems. Quite expensive replacement cable but there're not any other options out there.

Who doesn't hate headphone cable?
Anonymous 24.01.2015
I love Sennheiser headphones but their cables are always dire.
I've had 3 of these now and it's not because I do not treat my headphones well, they are just poorly designed unlike the headphones themselves.
I've given up on Sennheiser now and moved to Sony or AKG who seem to put more thought into the cable rather than an afterthought. Shame.

The correct cable for the HD 600, 540, etc.
Phonofanatic... 08.03.2024
There is a more affordable Sennheiser cable which is for the HD 650 - it has black L and R plugs. However, this more expensive cable has smaller connecting pins which do not "stretch/damage" the internal spring contacts on the HD 540/600. So, this cable is worth every penny and lasts a very long time... I am replacing the cable on my HD 540 - for the first time! - which is over thirty years old. Thanks Thomann...
