Best humbuckers I have ever had
Electric Sloth 13.04.2020
The Seth Lovers are P.A.F. Clones and they are the best I have ever had. This is the second set I have bought. I’ve tried a lot of pickups (57 classics, burstbucker pro, dirty fingers, dimarzios, Lace sensors and a lot of P.A.F. Clones, even others from Seymour Duncan (Joe Bonamassa limited 1959s) and I’ve got a Gibson Custom diamond anniversary Gold top with custom buckers in but the Seth Lovers just blow them all out of the water. They have that honk and growl that I associate with P.A.F. Pickups which seems to be missing nearly all the others or at least not as pronounced. They have a massive powerful sound when driven and they clean up really nicely when you roll off the volume (at least with 50s wiring) I absolutely hate buying pickups as it’s always a really expensive gamble and when you’ve soldered them in there’s no getting your money back and I’m usually disappointed or underwhelmed after spending all that money but these things are amazing and I wouldn’t hesitate in sticking them in any Les Paul, SG or es335. I don’t see how anyone could be disappointed if you want that P.A.F sound. Just be aware that these are NOT wax potted (just like back in the day) which I’m sure contributes to the authentic sound.

A point of reference

This is a classic set. Since PAF's where all over the sound spectrum I can't say that they are "THE PAF" replica but "A PAF" replica. They are Low Output and sound full, clean and articulate. They are very sensitive to height adjustments. They replaced the stock 490/498 in a Les Paul and I can achieve the tone in my head through various amp types.

The Neck pickup gives me a nice round tone. It has full bass and i feel like it covers a wide range in the treble frequences. That means that it is a trebly pickup but without spikes it is very pleasant and bloomy, not ice-picky at all.

The Bridge pickup brought a love/hate situation. It is clean and distorts really nice but it is a bit too trebly for my tastes. Trebly but thick! Personaly I would like something with a little bit more output to make it easier to distort and keep the neck relatively clean without messing with the volume knob.

Now, what i didnt like. The Microphonics. Tried them with a Fender type clean amp using an OCD pedal and a Marshall DSL head both in fairly high volume. The sound was perfect BUT with the Marshall they started to squeal when I boosted with a tubescreamer for a Hard Rock type distortion. Since they are NON wax potted i kinda expected that. The sound was excelent but i plan to use this guitar for Jazz-Blues stuff.

S
Wow!
Soilac 15.08.2021
I bought this set mainly due to online recommendations from others and really wow these pickups are tremendous. I have played the jb and 59 before and don't get me wrong they are excellent pickups but Seth lovers are in another league.

I have dropped before in a 335 style Ibanez Artcore guitar a 59set but the neck pickup was a little boomy (too much bass). I removed the 59set and put it on a PRS SE 24 and then replaced them with the Seth Lovers.

Seth Lovers did the trick and the bassy neck pickup smoothed out a lot but the bridge was transformed also. Both pickups are smooth with rich harmonics and transfer the woodiness of the semihollow guitar to the amplifier magnificently.

Fully recommended for semihollow guitars.
