Pickup for Electric Guitar

There is not much left to say about the Seymour Duncan SH1. It is one of the most popular replacement pickups; especially when it is desired to replicate the well balanced sound of the the legendary PAF Humbuckers of Seth Lover (the name is due to the bottom sticker "patent applied for"). For many guitarists this pickup is still the best, no screamer, it is way too classy to be that, but it can sing like no other pickup. Particularly finicky musical gourmets attest SH1 even a touch more authenticity compared to several competitors - but clarification to that question could probably only be found by means of an AB comparison (which is very complex with pickups) and even then, certain judgments remain simply a matter of taste. In any case, a hot tip!

The SH 1N is particularly suitable for the neck position and delivers bluesy to singing sounds that will make your day.

The classic look is taken care of with the chrome covers of the classic Gibson PAF

One of my favourite pick ups
dj_dave 10.11.2017
I wanted to change the pick ups on my gibson (that originally had some EMGs). I have always used SD pick ups, I own the distortion, jazz, and JB bridge. I love this pick up. For solos, it has a very sweet and full sound. I also use it for some darker riffs, as I often play some stoner like music. In that case, it pushes as hard as the JB I have on the bridge of the same guitar. Dark, round, but still aggressive and punchy.

If I had to buy it again, I would take the modern version with 4 conductors, easier to install for me, and it also gives more routing options.

Sonido PAF
elpapadoctor 22.11.2022

Sounds great
Eric405 19.07.2013
I bought a set of these pickups to replace the stock pickups in an epiphone sheraton II. I didn't quite know what to expect when I left it in to be fitted but I was really happy with the results. The stock pickups were a little but muddy and unarticulated but these really shine. They are more on the bright side so I had to lower the Potentiometer value on the bridge to 300k, but other than that they're great. The bridge pickup has plenty of growl and bite while the neck pickup is really smooth and creamy. Perfect for all kinds of genres like rock/blues/jazz. These pickups really transformed the sound of the guitar, it now rivals Gibsons which cost thousands.
