I thought I'd try this pickup to replace a stock one in a HB jazz bass I got a few months before. It has to be said the stock one wasn't actually that bad but I figured the SJB-2N should have a bit more power in the bass end as quoted in the description.
It definitely doesn't disappoint.
When I put it through my amp I had to take the volume back a little, so it definitely has the power. As for the tone, I find it quite warm in the bottom end but not overly so and it doesn't lack in the high frequencies either so it still cuts through a mix without being combined with the neck pickup. It does however work well with the bridge pickup I have although I don't think they are as balanced as more "matched" ones would be.
It EQs better than my old one and I can get a rock or funk sound really easily whether on it's own or with the bridge pickup.
so in my view it's worth the price.
