You can overdo everything – and that's why we really went all out when developing the EPILOGUE reference cable: After the great success of our NF cables ALBEDO and STRATOS, we ventured to do the ‘technical and audiophile’ feasible and created a product that, according to tests in well-known hi-fi studios, sounded more convincing than cables that cost many times more. Based on the legendary STRATOS, we have embedded four of its wires in a sheath so that they can be connected cross-over to reduce capacity. Each core is 100% shielded by dense copper braiding and a semiconductor. All four cores have been given a carbon conductor smoothing for better conductivity. The EPILOGUE guarantees absolutely neutral reproduction and is very musical, without the need for a long break-in period.
The EPILOGUE has been on the market since the end of 2002 and quickly convinced reviewers. It is the absolute reference cable for reputable hi-fi dealers who place more emphasis on linear transmission than on stocking ‘brightly coloured power cables’. It also graces the Skyline Studios in Düsseldorf, which is known worldwide for high-quality productions.
We recommend this for connecting preamplifiers and power amplifiers, for connecting CD and DVD players, turntables and, of course, for professional studio technology. Due to its low capacitance of approx. 35 pF core/core, it works at lengths of up to 10 metres with almost no loss. Due to the very elaborate processing and somewhat complicated wiring, the EPILOGUE is currently only available as a pre-assembled set. Special lengths are available from selected specialist dealers.
The balanced model is available with ‘Satin’ XLR connectors, which have machined, genuine gold-plated contacts for both the male and female models. These are specially produced for Sommer Cable by Neutrik. They are not available individually from retailers.
