Impressive sound for the price but designed to fail.
TrEr 29.05.2017
Certainly not the best headphones out there but very nice for the price. I can't think of anything in the same price range that's even close as far as sound quality.

The sound is surprisingly good. I've owned another pair of this model and I know a bit of breaking in helps a lot. When broken in they still sound a bit harsh in the highs but still pretty impressive for the price.

The closed back design does feel VERY closed though. More so than on more expensive closed headphones. I would never consider them for hifi listening but for cheap tracking headphones in the studio they are hard to beat. Especially since the isolation is very good.

Comfort isn't the best. They feel very tight and sweaty when used for longer periods. But far from the worst I've tried.

Build quality... well it seems very good except for one thing: The plug/cable.This is the downfall of all these cheap Superlux headphones. I've owned several of them and the cable ALWAYS breaks near the plug. They use extremely thin and fragile cable. And the plugs are the molded kind which is completely impossible to re-solder. So if they break it will basically cost you a new jack plug to fix it. And the thin wire is a real pain to work with (and will probably break again and again and...).

So, low marks for build quality which is a shame because except for the really poor quality cable they seem to be nice and sturdy. If the cable had been better I would have given them 4 start but unfortunately they fall into the disposable, planned obsolesence & cheaply manufactured Far East electronics cathegory. Still pretty good though, if you don't mind buying stuff that's basically designed to fail.

Clarity!
Trying to be frank 14.02.2014
I bought these for two purposes: Playing digital piano and for tracking vocals and guitar. For both purposes these do very well. They are comfortable to wear, although they can feel a bit warm and clammy if you are wearing them for hours at a time. They are very isolating, shutting out external sounds as good as hearing protectors - you could probably use them when playing/recording drums. The sound leakage to the surroundings is also very good, and when recording vocals while wearing these I can detect no sound getting picked by my condenser microphone.
The sound is very clear and open. Compared to my other headphones from Sennheiser, Klipsch and Koss, these are lacking a bit of bass, not really delivering that deep punch despite being marketed as more bass-heavy. The comparison is a bit unfair though, as the other headphones all cost between 5 and 10 times as much. For the price you pay for these, they are absolutely marvelous. They are hands-down the best sounding headphones in that price range I have ever used. Sure, others I have tried may have had better deeper bass response, but they are nowhere near the clarity and brilliance of these.

When my spouse was playing the digital piano using her old headphones, I asked her to try these on. She played for only a few seconds, then turned to me and said upset: "Damn you, you've ruined my old headphones!". She is now always borrowing these from me, refusing to go back to those she was happy with before trying these on.

Fun bass-boosted headphones.
They are closed, but have almost negligible noise attenuation from outside noises (esp. compared to any of 3M ear muffs that I use).

Buying them for outside noise attenuation is probably a bad idea. Good for everything else at the price.

MO
How to improve product lifespan
Mr Objective 10.11.2018
I am writing as an addendum to another reviewer's comments on the cheap build quality of the cable/plug. I agree that these headphones are excellent except for this one issue. The cable on my previous pair failed at the connection to actual headphones/earpiece.

Possible solution: there is a product marketed in the UK under the brand name 'Sugru' that can be used to reinforce/support cables at points where strain causes failure. In the case of these headphones this would be the plug and connection at the ear piece. I have had excellent results using Sugru on this and other thin cables. Please be aware, however, that this is a modification that would void your guarantee. This is not an issue on cheap headphones that are designed to fail. It would prolong their lifespan and benefits the environment as it stops them ending up in landfill very quickly.
