Closed-back studio headphones

The Superlux HD-660 Pro is a pair of closed-back circumaural headphones for studio applications that, despite their affordable price, deliver a surprisingly wide frequency response which extends from 30kHz all the way down to 10Hz and thus clearly surpasses the normal range of human hearing. Superlux promises a precisely detailed sound and a balanced frequency response, allowing the user to evaluate signals with pinpoint accuracy. In addition to the HD-660 Pro itself, the scope of delivery also includes a 3.5mm to 6.35mm stereo jack adapter and a carrying pouch.

Superlux's 32-ohm model

The diaphragms of the Superlux HD-660 Pro headphones are driven by powerful neodymium magnets, and the drivers, which measure 40mm in diameter, produce a maximum sound pressure level (SPL) of 92dB. This volume can also be reached using headphone amplifiers with lower output voltages, since the headphones' impedance is just 32 ohms. For users who prefer to plug into a headphone output with significantly more power on tap, Superlux recommends the 150-ohm version. While this model is quieter when used with smartphones, tablets, laptops, and smaller audio interfaces, it provides a much more detailed sound response when used with higher-quality headphone amplifiers.

For mix engineers, gamers, and podcasters

Thanks to their closed-back design, the Superlux HD-660 Pro headphones are a superb choice for recording artists, but podcasters will also benefit greatly from their high level of sound isolation, which means less sound leakage into the microphone during recording sessions and thus a welcome reduction in the amount of post-production work required. Livestreamers can also look forward to a much higher level of monitoring volume, and gamers who prefer to use a tabletop microphone rather than a headset mic and enjoy the game's audio right across the frequency spectrum. What is more, mixing engineers can capitalise on these headphones' detailed sound and balanced frequency response, while DJs can concentrate fully on their set without distractions.

About Superlux

Anyone looking for microphones and headphones with an excellent price-performance ratio will certainly find what they are looking for from Superlux. The company employs experienced specialists and produces its articles at various locations in its own factories in China and Taiwan, where the products are developed, tested, and manufactured under one roof. Everything can therefore be manufactured on site, from the raw material to the finished device, which has a positive effect on the selling price. The products are often praised in test reports for their sound and manufacturing quality. With Superlux products, private users can achieve solid recording and mixing results even without a large budget.

Freedom of movement while recording

The Superlux HD-660 Pro features a single-sided cable connection, making it a great choice for recording situations in which musicians with bulky instruments need to move around freely. The headphones' 2m cable also makes them ideal for the studio, where sound engineers have to scurry back and forth. Thanks to its soft velour ear pads and relatively low weight of 323g, the Superlux HD-660 Pro is also made for long hours of intensive listening and gaming. Although these headphones have a lot to offer at an affordable price, users should nonetheless be aware that it is not possible to change the cable.

disappointed.. :/

I am quite a fan of superlux headphones, they are amazing value for the price, i have a pair of HD681 which are great, though open, and 2 pairs of HD660 old version where i upgraded the cushions to velvet ones, and very happy.
I bought the HD660 PRO thinking it would be a nice evolution to the older HD660, but here is how they compare:

+ longer cable
+ comes with the velvet pads
+ better headband / slightly more comfortable

- the sounds is BAD, the bass is so wrong and kick drums come out extremely loud and compressed
- they are WAY less isolated, more like semi-open than closed, so they don't cut as much surrounding (eg. at work it's not great)

Review from gamer perspective. First and foremost it's better than most of "gaming" headphones up to 100e i would say. Compered to my previous headphones samson sr850, these are a bit better sounding (sr850 was open back), hyperx cloud 2 are total trash, hd 660 absolutely better in every way, cooler master mh752 was pretty similar sounding, but it costs 90+euro. Comfort is acually good, I can use them all day and can't feel any discomfort, I've been using beyerdynamic dt 990 pro previously and it is even more comfortable, but we all know how much it costs... For example in csgo every step is clearly hearable, very easy to tell from which direction enemy are coming. Build quality, well it is thinner metal and cheaper plastic than in real beyerdynamic dt 770 or dt 990, but what do you want from 39e headphones and they're not even that bad...In the end I would recommend them for those who is not using them for studio stuff (I don't really know, maybe they are good for that too, not too much bass, highs not hurting ears), for every day use really solid headphones.
P.S they can have a lot of bass if you like it, just need to use equalizer (for example "Peter's qualized APO", plenty settings there).

PE
Outstanding quality for an affordable price
Phillip Ebert 20.06.2022
As an average consumer, I was looking for headphones that sounded reasonably good even without an amplifier or external DAC from a smartphone or laptop, which is why I decided on the 32 ohm version. The Superlux HD-660 Pro exceeded my expectations and I am very happy with my purchase.

The build quality:
The headphones are well made. The ear cups and the headband stand out positively, which in combination ensure ultimate comfort. The cable is nice and long and there are engraved dots on the inside to tell if both sides are at the same height.

My only two criticisms are that the "glossy look" on the bottom part of the headphones is very prone to fingerprints and adjusting the earpiece width is a bit difficult as the earpiece is difficult to detach and then very easy to move.

The sound:
For me, the sound is the most important point of a headphone, it is great with the headphone. I don't miss bass, mids or treble when listening to music. In addition, the headphones offer a surprisingly wide soundstage for a closed-back model.

Conclusion:
Both in terms of comfort and sound, these headphones are outstanding, and, as already mentioned, all of this without additional hardware and at a good price. If you are looking for a good stand-alone headphone, you will be very satisfied with this one.
