I have now got 3 of these form my choir/ string ensemble recording rig.
Good height and reach and an excellent price.
They fit into the back of my Qashqai when collapsed and the seats are folded, so transport is not too much of an issue, but they are heavy to carry (heavy counterweight).
My only criticisms are the pivot for the boom does not have a positive lock, so it is important to tighten the knob and also move the balance weight to counterbalance your microphone and the reach.
It is also easy to bash your fingers (or parts of the male anatomy) with the counterweight on the boom arm when carrying the stand - I use a large Velcro strap around the legs and boom to keep them bundled together.
I also use vinyl black and yellow striped sandbags on the legs when they are set up (cheap photo light ones are ok) they make the base more stable and the legs visible to wandering audience/performers.
These stands are quite slim and not too obtrusive. I have used one behind and above a conductor carrying a stereo bar for mid/side recording without comment from audience.
Not as sophisticated as some stands, and you can see where cost has been saved, but for the semi-pro recording engineer I really recommend getting one or two. Difficult to beat at the price

really good stands for the money
HowieCapowie 29.04.2020
just got 2 of these to use as OH stands. But holy cow. I was surprised of the build quality of these. Heavy dutie stands that seems very rigid. I have some heavy microphones that I use for some other duties in our rehearsal room/studio that I have been afraid of using on smaller flimsy stands. I can tell you now that these stands will see more action than just as OH.
There is a small movement in the joint where the boom is,but it is very small, and I don't think it will be a problem..
The screw locks is good and locks on thight once you find your position so I don't expect any sagging taking place.
I'm very happy with my purchase. If they will stand (no pun intended) the test of time, well. only time can tell..

Very high and stable stand
Ekspresstudija 27.01.2018
I bought this mic stand about 5 years ago. The purpose was to record overall sound of orchestras, choirs as well as organ since I record mostly academic / classical music.
This stand meets my needs - it is more than 5 m high so it "looks" to orchestra or other group of musicians from above giving me possibility to take overall sound. When recording organs it gives me possibilty to try to reach best place to put a mics, althought in this case 5 m often is to small :)
Up to now all the screws works well.
Bad thing is that even folded it takes a lot of space and hardly fits in my Golf that carries all my equipment for on-location recording.
So if you need really high stand - buy this.

Incredible Value!

I can't say enough good things about these stands. The pictures and description don't quite capture how big and heavy these things are. I've got a fairly large studio with a 5m high ceiling and I'm yet to find a position these stands won't manage.
I originally ordered 2 but I think its time for an extra pair as these are brilliant for heavy mics. When you've got thousands of £££ worth of mics its really not worth the risk using flimsy stands. A great alternative to the £200+ K&M stands
