A professional's audio recorder

The Tascam SS-CDR250N is a network-compatible solid-state CD audio recorder. It can be controlled through its ethernet connection, the serial or parallel communication ports, or the cabled remote control included in this package. Recordings can be stored on either SD cards or USB flash drives and also uploaded to an FTP server directly via the integrated network. To ensure maximum security, the SS-CDR250N is able to automatically create backup copies. All recordings can be made in a quality of up to 96kHz and 24Bit. The rear side in turn offers flexible inputs and outputs in both analogue and digital formats. With these features, this professional audio recorder is suited for a variety of applications in fixed installation setups.

Flexible controls, fully connected

The SS-CDR250N can schedule the execution of certain operations via event lists – for recordings, playback, downloads, and other functions. Synchronisation via an SNTP client ensures that events are controlled with a high level of precision. The timer function lets users begin recording immediately, as soon as the device is powered on. Transport control can also be carried out via an app, available for iOS and Android devices. The link playback function makes it possible to control two devices at the same time. The rear side features symmetric XLR, as well as unbalanced cinch connections. The XLR inputs are capable of providing 48V phantom power, which is required for using condenser microphones. As for digital connections, users will find both an SPDIF and an AES/EBU I/O.

Perfectly integrated in every setup

The Tascam SS-CDR250N records at a high quality and can be flexibly integrated into fixed installations. This makes it perfectly suited for professional applications, as its many functions make it a valuable tool for live shows, at conferences, or for radio studios. These features also offer a maximum of security and reliability during recordings – for example by simultaneously creating backup copies on a second storage device. Moreover, a recording can be continued on a second storage device should the storage capacity reach its limit on the primary storage device. For integrating this recorder into Dante networks, users can purchase the interface card IF-DA2, which offers a two-channel in- and output for corresponding networks with an audio quality of 96kHz and 24Bit.

About Tascam

Tascam started out in 1971 as Teac Corporation's distributor of professional audio equipment. The name is the acronym of Teac Audio System Company of America. Tascam was a great innovator on the market and pioneered leading technologies of the time, such as multitrack tape and cassette recorders, digital multitrack recorders (DTRS), digital mixing consoles, and so on. Today, Tascam supplies the entire sound industry with products for television and radio studios, recording studios, concert halls, conference rooms, academic institutions, commercial facilities, theatres, internet podcasters and broadcasters, music producers, and musicians.

Secure and versatile recording and playback options

The Tascam SS-CDR250N features numerous functions that enable secure and flexible recording. Both SD card slots can be used for a mirrored or staggered recording, maximising security. Recordings can also be made quickly, as this recorder only needs a few seconds to boot up: Just one push of a button and the recording can begin. The function for level adjustment can automatically control the input gain, if so desired – and the playback level can be automatically reduced when a threshold is crossed with the ducking function. An integrated compressor and limiter are useful tools for improving recording quality. There is also a pre-recording feature, which stores up to five seconds in a buffer before the the recording itself begins – so it's impossible to miss the start of a track. Users can also place markers in their recordings in order to indicate any errors in the form of distortion due to overdriving the amplifier or synchronisation errors, for example. With pitch control, users can adjust the speed and pitch of the playback independently of one another.
