I got this to replace a suspect 4-ohm co-axial speaker/horn in an acoustic combo.
The original speaker was 10" too, but was a bit "grindy/mushy" above 1/2 volume, I suspected the horn for this problem after wiring into a PA speaker instead.
I fitted the new speaker & got another 1/4 turn on the volume before the "grindy/mushy" problem reappears. There is some AC smoothing problems on the amplifier circuit board, but I can use almost full volume now & the extra db (sound) this speaker punches out is great. The lack of a horn helps smooth the sound too.
This speaker comes on song, sounding good at 100 hz and holds a good sound till around 3 - 4 Khz, 5 - 10khz is only for dogs and cats to hear. The new speaker is a little bigger in physical size & weight than my original 10" speaker, mounting holes are the same though.
Well worth the work for its stronger & cleaner sound.
