Fabulous!

Wasn't sure what to expect from this, I'm using a Hohner Bravo III 72 bass accordion and in the past I'd used dynamic mics like sm58 gaffer taped to the grill or on stands. Also I'd tried using a live condenser instrument mic on a stand. The ACM-01 blows anything else I'd tried out of the water! Very good.

Using Live :
Loads of gain before I got any feedback in a live band setting, and the tone is excellent. The mics must have been chosen to get the right kind of tone, nice bass. Easy to install - very pleased.

Practicality :
It's not as convenient as an internal system, but the advantage is if I change accordion later on I can still use this mic system on the new one.
I worried the bass lead would get in the way, but actually it looks very neat. I have not taken it off the accordion since I attached it. So the bass lead, is not even in the way when it's in the case.

Build quality :
Build quality is good, look closely at the photos and that is exactly how it comes. Solidly put together in a metal box. Leads etc seem good quality.

Overall opinion :
Miking the accordion has been a big hassle as I play live a lot. This has solved the problem, I'm very happy and wish I'd got it earlier!

Great Solution for amplifying accordion
Melomaniac 27.12.2021
I was hesitant at first based on the low price of this article but after 3 years of intensive use in two different accordions, the mics and cables and pre-amp still sound great.

Installation is relatively simple, (depends on the size of the accordion and your reluctance to make a hole to have the cables pass through the casing) requires simply a 9V battery for the pre-amp. Cable size is well adapted for my smaller 48 bravo II. I feel that for a 120 sized accordion, the cables could be a little short and you may find yourself being limited in the placement of your preamp and microphones. Would be nice to have a battery indicator of low battery on the preamp too. So far I have simply changed the battery every 6 months out of precaution, the battery has never let me down though.

Overall, highly recommended amplification solution for accordion for outdoor use, never had feedback nor wind noise while performing outside.

M
a good product for a fair price

I tried many ways to make the accordion sound good and it seemed almost impossible, mainly the bass part.
As we have no bassplayer in the band, the accordion had to work also as a lead bass in the left hand, but this was the first time it really worked like it should. Very nice bass sound.
The melody part sound is also a nice surprise. Two microphones mean, that the ballance between octaves is perfect, you can hear it almost like it was accoustic sound of the instrument, I enjoyed it much.
The installation was like 10 minutes or less, one does not need to be an accordion specialist to install it properly.
A bigger challenge was finding the best place for the bass mic, one have to try more different places, as it depends on the type of the instrument.
And the best part was -> no feedback during the concert, I was more then 5 decibels bellow the feedback point in ff (fortissimo), so absolutely no stress at all, one can concentrate only on music.
All I can say is, the producers of this product knew what and how they did and they did well.

It's a bargain

Yes, you can buy a more expensive set of mics for your instrument. And yes, buying a Thomann product felt kinda risky. However, after almost 2 years of using ACM-01 with my band I can say that it is probably the only choice if you don't want to hassle with mic stands or really expensive set of mics. The sound is pretty decent. For live situations it's perfect. However you might want to think about isolating the grill as much as possible, otherwise the mics will get a lot of bleed. Anyway. If you play an accordion, if you use it live, if you don't want to invest 500+ Euro into your mics - get this system.
P.S. It is pretty sturdy and went through 2+ years of touring without any failure.
