The all-in-one package for beginners

The Thomann Classic Cello Set is one of the most economical cello sets currently available on the market. The neck of the instrument is made of hard, durable maple wood and stained to retain the traditional cello appearance, while the body and top are made from laminated wood. The four tuning pegs are made of jujube, as an alternative to the tropical woods that are otherwise commonly used, thus helping to protect and preserve rainforest resources. The cello comes with a set of Young Talent strings made by Danish company Jargar, which are tonally flexible and thus provide a solid basis for whatever sound may be desired.

Hitting the right note

A correctly tuned instrument always hits the right note with musicians and audiences alike. To prevent tuning problems becoming a nuisance and make sure that the tuning process is as straightforward as possible, the tailpiece of the cello is equipped with four fine tuners. Although good playing form is still recommended, of course, a well-tuned instrument with optimum tuning stability can certainly play a decisive role in achieving the desired sound! The instrument’s tailpiece is made of a composite material consisting of carbon and plastic fibres, which not only makes it lighter but also more stable than wood. The cello also receives a basic setup at Thomann’s string workshop prior to shipping.

Ticking all the boxes

The 1/4 cello is generally recommended for users with an arm measurement of 45cm or longer (if in doubt, we advise arranging a personal assessment with an experienced cellist). Unfortunately, playing the cello involves more than just the instrument itself: A bow is often needed as well as rosin (bow resin), which enables the bow to “grip” the strings. Without grip, there would ultimately be no vibration, and, without vibration, there is no sound. All of these components are contained in the Thomann Classic Cello Set and are included in the scope of delivery. To avoid the need for multiple pairs of hands and thus make the cello easy to transport, the instrument and all accessories are neatly arranged in a carrying case (complete with sheet music compartment). This makes the set ideal for anyone starting out on their musical journey.

About Thomann string instruments

Thomann-brand instruments, which are exclusively built by renowned manufacturers, now constitute a large part of Thomann’s product range alongside numerous big-name brands. With unbeatable price-performance ratios, Thomann string instruments are the obvious first choice for students and beginners – and others too. The technical features and uncompromising sound quality they offer are usually reserved for much more expensive instruments found in the professional market segment.

Ideal for use at home or on the stage

Cellos have an extensive range, which enables them to play both melody and bass (and everything in between). This makes them extremely versatile instruments that can be used to equally impressive effect in a solo or trio arrangement, in chamber music or in orchestras, in a quiet room at home or on the stage, regardless of whether Classical, romantic, theatrical, Jazz, Baroque, or even Rock music (just think Apocalyptica!) is being performed. The possibilities are endless and influenced only by the limits of the musician – and discovering and exceeding these limits is presumably something that everyone is seeking to achieve. In any case, this instrument is sure to make the quest to find one’s limits very enjoyable!
