Excellent safe home for your cymbals, and cheap too!
James4797 15.06.2014
I have always been disappointed with cymbal cases and bags. Bags are light but don't offer protection, cases seem to be fiddly, and involve tightening screws for what seems like forever. I was wary when I first looked at this product, as it seemed that the spindle had no sleeving and so would damage the cymbals, and I couldn't work out how the cymbals were clamped in ti so thought they may move about ini transit and rub against each other.

Well, I needn't have worried. The spindle doesn't have sleeving, but doesn't need any. It is highly polished and offers a tight fit for the cymbals so there will be no rubbing or wear on the cymbal hole. It also comes with a clamp which is slid over the top cymbal and tightened, holding it in place. I may put a felt washer between the clamp and the cymbal, but this is easily done.

The case is quite heavy, so with cymbals is not a light option, but when you have people thinking they are being helpful and carrying your stuff and then dropping it, I feel like my cymbals are safe as houses in this, and it also was loads cheaper than other cases, such as the hardcase one, which I also have and I find really annoying to use.

Save some money, keep your cymbals safe, and buy this. It also locks.

Z
very sturdy hardcase

My only problem I have with this item is that over time, the middle rod section of the case will start to bend out of shape, not a major thing, however, it won't close properly as there's a slot to keep the rod in place on the top cover.

Weight of the item kind of gets heavy overtime, especially if you have a short firgure like myself. i find myself skimming the bottom part of the case a couple of times due to size of the item. but no complains on it as i know its a 22 inch case. Was expecting that already.

If you plan on using this as a travelling case, i suggest you look for other brands, however if you just want a case to store your cymbals and not lug them around as much, then this will be practical.

I store 2 crashes, 1 ride and a Hi hat. it gets a little crowded if you add more but it can be done with some sitting on.

Overall its a cheap case with good sturdy material on the outside but not for the gigging drummer. i ended up buying another case after this one.

Living the high life...

I have to say that I like this case very much. Before I got it I used to drag around a brand name cymbal bag, and was not at all satisfied. It's incredible that this case is lighter than the bag that I have. Interior of the case is lined with a fur imitation fabric. The central spindle has a tightening ring that holds the cymbals in place, and it slides on and off nicely, but the tightening screw can be somewhat difficult to grasp. After you place your cymbals on it inside the case there is still enough space for some sticks, or maybe cymbal arms, clamps and such small accessories. The outside material is some kind of leather imitation along the sides, and the largest part of the surface is covered with the standard black textured rubbery material. It doesn't look quite top notch, but it does not look cheap either, so I guess you could call it mid range. The closing buckles latch on with no trouble, and I have to commend the small metallic legs which are placed both on the bottom surface, and the bottom side so you can lay the case down, or leave it standing up on its side.
Another thing to consider is the size of the case - I'm 180 cm high and just about manage to carry it around with an outstretched arm when on even ground. For somebody shorter this might be somewhat more challenging. The handle on the case is quite comfortable and fits nicely in your hand.
I would recommend this case.

Works fine, might not last forever
Ädi 18.06.2019
I bought one of these just before a week-long tour, and the center screw came loose every time I moved the case. Thomann sent me a new one, and it works better, but the center screw doesn't always seem to fit perfectly in the hole on the top lid. When this one fails or falls apart, I'll buy one with a better system for keeping the center screw tight.
