Very well made quality case.

This case, made specifically for the Yamaha MG 16 or 20, is an incredibly durable case. Between the reinforced corners, the studio foam and the 7mm plywood this case is NOT going to break!

We've used this case for gigging extensively over the past few weeks (two to five times a week) and there are only a handful of minor problems I have encountered with it.
1. There seems to occasionally be a build up of condensation inside the case after transport in a van. This has not been a problem so far but I hope that as we come into colder weather it does not effect the electrics...
2. As the only way to properly access the mixer while in the case is to remove the hinged lid you can find yourself in a predicament. In small stage spaces (living in Ireland!) the swing required to remove the lid is just not there! It can be quite cumbersome to set up sometimes.

Bottom line is it is a fantastically well built and durable case tailor made for the Yamaha MG mixers. Anything else just won't cut it.

Stable, quality, one to trust.
Anonymous 04.12.2016
Not only is this case highly sturdy and of the highest quality but it is most certainly trustworthy when it comes to protecting what is the heart of your PA system. The 7mm ply and protective foam forms a highly protective atmosphere to keep your desk in. We've had this case and associated desk for a number of months now and even though its been through a number of scrapes it has protected the desk 100%. I think this case is going to keep the desk clean , safe and functional for many a year to come!

Negatives?
The rear hinge system means that you cannot simply lift the lid off entirely unless you hinge the lid all the way back, in which case the lid comes off. If there were catches on both sides that would be an improvement.

The catches ore of the toggle case latch type. Whilst sturdy, butterfly catches would provide more security to this case as it would prevent accidental catching and opening of the latch, as has happened with me on one occasion.

In summary the case is of very good build quality and shows good value for money. It will protect your case to the highest degree. Be aware of the rear hinge and catches but don't let that put you off a fantastic case!

Solid Build with excellent protection
JayD1977 18.01.2020
Very solid construction and having seen it dropped recently from a few feet, offers excellent protection. Its also surprisingly light.
The case comes with the foam cut to size, and also a section large enough to store my sssnake MTS 164 - 30 System.
Added bonus of it being possible to operate the desk in the bottom half of the case.

Solid and durable
Anonymous 02.01.2016
I bought this case for the MG16XU... The mixer fits snugly into the foam interior, there is no "wiggle room" that would cause it to bounce around inside when transporting.

Another reviewer mentions a build up of condensation inside the case but I haven't found this at all (I even checked specifically for this issue after storing in a cold van overnight... I found no condensation at all).

The build is solid and provides peace of mind in the knowledge that the mixer is safe when being transported between gigs.

My one gripe is the price, I can't understand why this case costs more than double the price of the Thon utility case... the dimensions are different but the materials and internal volume are very similar (except with added foam interior). That said, I'd rather pay the price than have the potential of damaging the the mixer.

Overall - I'd recommend it.
