The Wolfmix W1 Mk2 is a stand-alone DMX performance controller that can create lightshows on the fly, entirely without a computer. The innovative device is designed to live up to its lupine name as a mobile, compact, and yet highly effective toolkit for light technicians. The Mk2 version, like its predecessors, features countless effect modules, music synchronisation, and up to four DMX universes. The controller, which was updated in 2024, can be used to configure up to 50 external device types, with as many as 5,000 settings for said devices; there are 680 options for spotlights and beams alone. As a new feature, improving on the hugely successful Wolfmix W1, the encoders are fitted with larger rotary knobs, which enable finer control of the various settings, improving both the device's practical usability and the overall impression of well-made quality.
The Wolfmix W1 Mk2 is a perfect blend of simplicity and functionality, making it the ideal solution for many who work – or play – in the field of lighting control. For this price class, its range of functions is almost unheard of; it all begins with the powerful onboard processor, which has the unit up and running in under two seconds. The control panel comprises a total of 37 coloured silicone buttons, which enable the configuration of the device's huge variety of functions. The standalone controller, with its 4.3" tinted-glass touch display, provides instant access to the most important effects and functions, such as the pan and tilt settings. This upgraded version now also includes a USB-A port, allowing a USB stick or MIDI device to be connected directly to the controller.
The Wolfmix W1 Mk2 can be put straight to use in a broad variety of situations. Because the device is operable without a dedicated controller, it can be easily used – for instance – in the kind of smaller-sized clubs or youth centres that don't necessarily employ a trained lighting technician. The Wolfmix W1 Mk2 has a user interface that is both convenient and dependable, and because of its capabilities as a stand-alone device, it is particularly suited to use by DJs and mobile entertainers as well as solo artists and live performers of all kinds. Equally, though, professional lighting techs and event specialists will find plenty to love: Firstly, the ability to program their next light show while sitting on the sofa at home, and secondly, the unit's relatively low cost considering its comprehensive set of functions. Either way, beginners and pros will find the Wolfmix W1 Mk2 capable of creating truly impressive lighting scenarios.
Wolfmix is part of the Nicolaudie Group, which develops innovative solutions for architectural illumination. Wolfmix doesn't just specialise in DMX controllers – the goal is to simplify them: In live use situations, access to the wide range of functions offered by DMX devices should always be as easy as possible. In order to make newly developed features immediately clear to their users, Wolfmix collaborates with brand ambassadors in a number of countries, as well as offering post-sales support that acknowledges each customer's exact needs and problems. Wolfmix also has an extensive network of distribution partners.
The standalone Wolfmix W1 Mk2 is compatible with any DMX device, while itself offering a huge range of functions. Users can divide their work into eight fixture groups and six projects, manage more than 15,000 individual fixtures (this number can even be expanded further), and synchronise their FX BPM via Ableton Link, OS2L, or BPM Tap. Music pulse synching can also be driven by mic or line in. There are 100 preset slots to save snapshots and fade timings, and if a setup includes a number of similar gobos, they too are automatically synchronised for multiple different types of spotlight. The Wolfmix W1 Mk2 is easy to use in real time, but it can also run a time-delay to set off flash and preset buttons. Despite all this being just a taste of what it is capable of, all features are configured and accessible in such a way that beginners or hobbyists will find the device eminently manageable.
