I've had Yamaha products for over 20 years, keyboards, pro audio that have never let me down so in that regard I decided on trying one of their guitars.
Out of the box, first impressions were excellent, flawless finish, no sharp frets good workmanship but looking a little deeper things changes. The guitar had little chips in the neck where the heel meets the body, the paint on the headstock was covered in black marks and the low E tuner was missing the screw on the back. The neck at the nut was rough as hell.
I got them resolved but they shouldn't have shipped this with those faults.
Onto the sound.
I was looking for a guitar that I could replace two guitars with, my strat and my sg, so the idea of having a humbucker that could be spilt was a dream.
The humbucker itself is fine but the coil split on this is very poor, I had to use a boost pedal to make up the volume to make it anyway useable.
The whole experience of having this guitar has left me with a bad experience of owning Pacificas.
I sold it for half of what I paid because it annoyed me sitting there.
Maybe I just got a bad guitar but no, I looked at another in a music store near me and it was worse.
I understand the demand for guitars during the pandemic increased, but someone in Yamahas quality control didn't do their job.
I won't be buying Yamaha again.
