Traditional looks

The K-Custom Darkbox cymbal set comes from Zildjian's tried and tested, extremely successful K series of cymbals. The cymbals that make up this set have a dark, deep basic tone and make a convincing case thanks to the wide range of applications that they can cover. They are made from high-quality B20 bronze, which is composed of 80 percent copper and 20 percent tin, and their surfaces have the traditional polished finish. Special hammer indentations and fine lathing patterns also give the cymbals an attractive appearance. The K-Custom Darkbox cymbal set includes a 14" K-Custom Dark Hi-Hat, 16" and 18" K-Custom Dark Crashes, and a 20" K-Custom Dark Ride.

Heavy cymbals full of character

The cymbals of the K-Custom Darkbox cymbal set all have a pleasant playing feel and a warm sound character. The versatile, comparatively heavy K-Custom Dark hi-hat offers a bright "chick" sound that will easily cut through the mix, and a clearly defined stick sound. The Dark crashes sound full-bodied, and players will certainly appreciate their quick response as well as their short sustain. Despite their hefty weight, the two crash cymbals behave like thin crashes thanks to the special hammering used in their production, but offer a lot more volume. The Dark ride in turn makes a convincing case with its dark undertones, which are combined with a soft, defined stick sound and good crash qualities.

Multifaceted sound

The Zildjian K-Custom Darkbox cymbals are tonally matched to perfection and represent an excellent choice for drummers who like warm and dark sound textures. The warm and multifaceted sonic characteristics of the K-Custom cymbals puts a wide variety of different sounds at the player's fingertips, in addition to which purchasing the K-Custom cymbal set offers an irresistable price advantage compared to buying each of the cymbals individually. This set is therefore an ideal choice for any drummer who has always been waiting for the perfect opportunity to buy some professional K-Custom cymbals at an attractive all-round price.

About Zildjian

The Avedis Zildjian company is one of the world's oldest manufacturers of musical instruments. In addition to cymbals and gongs, the Zildjian range also includes drumsticks, percussion mallets, and accessories. The company's history dates back to 1618, when an Armenian, Avedis Zildjian, made his first cymbals from tin, copper, and silver near Constantinople. In the early 20th century, the company moved its headquarters to the United States, where a short time later the era of big bands and Swing music began. Zildjian worked closely with the most famous drummers of that era and over the decades earned an excellent reputation among Jazz drummers. Since Ringo Starr led the way more recently, Zildjian cymbals have also become increasingly popular among Rock drummers, and today the range includes cymbals for every conceivable genre, ranging from affordable entry-level cymbals to handmade models of the very highest quality.

The diversified K-Custom series

The Zildjian K-Custom series consists of various different cymbal types in a range of sizes, and some of its constituent models are also available in preconfigured cymbal sets. Those who want to expand the K-Custom Darkbox cymbal set later on can thus choose from a huge selection of hi-hat, crash, ride, and effect cymbal models that match the series. Particularly noteworthy are the K-Custom Dark Splash and China cymbals as well as the K-Custom Left Side Ride, all of which harmonise perfectly with the rest of the series and the latter of which offers a special sound texture and a unique sizzle effect thanks to three rivets attached to its underside.

Absolutely love the product, great sound, great quality

I had been researching cymbals for a while and decided to go with these to start off my more higher quality cymbal setup.

The cymbals quality is fantastic and they sound great, the sound is quite dark but has a lot of volume and richness to it, a very well made cymbal which fits easily into most styles, but be careful! Don't just buy the cymbals for the brand. The cymbals have a very specific sound which not everyone would like. The hi-hats I got for instance are very dark and the 16" crash is also dark; but I personally love that sound and i think it's great. I looked into tons of different cymbals and tried most of them out in person, and so I would suggest doing the same thing before buying this set if possible.

The price is quite high, but is immediately justified when you see the time and effort that has gone into each cymbal. A truly fantastic sounding cymbal set and would recommend for any advanced drummer looking to get a good set of cymbals!

All round excellent cymbals

The K Custom Dark box set is exceptional value for money. The 4 cymbals in the box would add up to a far bigger price if bought seperately. The Cymbal quality is as you would expect for professional grade cymbals. The sound quality of each cymbal is very musical.
The 14" hi hats have a really good sound either open or closed a good "chick" one of the best hi-hats I have played.
The 16" crash is good with a defined dark crash sound however the 18" crash is just better. It has a great attack and projects itself well.
The 20" ride is lovely however the ping isn't as defined as I would prefer, however that is personal taste.
Overall, the cymbals are excellent, my favorites are the hats and the 18" crash, the 16" crash would be third followed by the ride however all of them are worthwhile purchases (and being in the box set they were all excellent value)

The first time I used them I was a little disappointed. The problem was that my ears were calibrated to the previous cymbals which were extremely loud and cutting.

After using them for a while I came to realize that this is how the cymbals should sound and behave. Correct, warm sound, good decay, good pitch, good everything.

I am now extremely pleased of the set.

What else can I say. great sound. The hi-hats have an unique ''Chick'' sound. So delicate and yet powerful. The 18 crash has huge sound and the ride has a delicate ping. If you're looking to record, these are the cymbals to get.
