Worth it

There are quite a few good qualities in these headphones with only minor drawbacks.

I tend to listen to high-definition music, 320 kbps and the likes.
What initially struck me when listening to music through these headphones is the quality. After owning cheap 15euro headphones for so long, I immediately noticed a huge increase in clarity, especially in the low-frequency spectrum.
These speakers have higher impedance than some and this causes them to be slightly less-loud, but they are still perfectly capable of drowning out any background noise, such as a TV or radio playing.
These headphones are also semi-open, meaning their sound-insulation isnt very high. This can be seen as good or bad, as you may not want others hearing your music, but it also means I can speak to others while the speakers are still on my ears

For comfort, I didnt give a fifth star for some minor reasons.
First, the removable audio jack extrudes quite a long way out of the bottom of the speaker, and sometimes snags on the collar of my coat. I dont mind this too much as having a removable jack at all is great for me, but still this is worth noting.
Secondly, the material used to form the speaker pads, while soft and easy on the skin, is leathery, meaning that if i wear the phones for a long duration, they will leave sweat-marks on the skin.

The rest of the build quality is very satisfactory, with self-adjusting headband and a good flexible, agile feel to the product as a whole- these will probably last a long time. These headphones are also very light, meaning they dont leave that annoying headphone-hair indent on my head when using them for hours.

So to sum up, Very good quality sound, Very comfortable (usually), durable.

Excellent value for money
VladTheInstaller 24.09.2017
I use these headphones for pretty much everything from monitoring, tracking, and listening to music outdoors and it does a very good job in all situations. The semi-open construction is useful for being able to hear traffic while in urban areas, which is usually difficult with closed-back designs. Unfortunately, that means there is not much rejection when tracking loud instruments like drums or a miked guitar cabinet in the same room.

The sound quality is great, but not as crystal clear as my AKG K-702 but these AKG K-240s are a fraction of the cost. The character is nice and clear but doesn't have an anaemic or over-present bottom end; The bass and low mids sound pretty good to my ears.

The construction is actually a lot tougher than it would appear, but beware that AKG headphones sometimes have a problem with wires popping loose inside the housing. Repairing this issue requires opening your headphones and re-soldering the loose wire. This has happened on 2 of the 3 AKG headphones I own. Also, the soft, plastic ear pads harden over time and need replacing. That being said, these are some of the hardest wearing headphones I've ever owned.

I highly recommend them to anyone looking for great value headphones that will serve them for years with the minimum hassle.

J
pretty comfy, warm sounding, KOOL LOOKS!
JakeC 24.07.2021
this is my 4th headphone after Sony 7506, Directsound EX29, bayerdynamic DT770 pro 80ohm.

My ears are overly sensitive to mid-high frequency, so this headphone was pretty good to my ears for music listening. However, that characteristics of this headphones come in as its weakness when it should function as a monitoring headphones.

The other headphones that i bought right before this one was DT770 and DT770 is 130 euros K240 is 55 euros. And even compared to the other 2 headphones I have, K240 is still the cheapest product. Although my impression for K240 might sound a bit unfair, I tried to write as honest as possible.

K240 omits quite a lot of detail from the mid-high frequency. it was very obvious both in monitoring and music listening, so when I wanted to pick up all the details from the sound, it was usually not there. The sound is not as bad as to be called as muddy. It's quite alright, but it's more of the warm one.

I should admit here that the fact I bought this headphones mainly for the looks. I like blue, pink, and gold colors too much. I just wanted this.

headband is pretty comfy. not the best among ones I have. but the headphone itself is pretty light as well.

In conclusion, I find this headphone very useful for my regular music listening. with a veeery slight bass boost, this one serves me very well as a music listening headphones. But I think I shouldn't recommend this as monitoring headphones.

S
Really good studio phones for the price, cable needs improvement
Sziklafy 06.05.2021
Just as the title says, it is the best headphone for mixing/mastering/monitoring for the money, BUT!- after about 3 weeks buying it, the cable has an electric contact problem ,(effecting the left side of the unit) and no,not at the base of the jack or the 3 pin connector where mechanically it usually takes the most wear and tear. No! It is somewhere inside the cable, and I have managed to detect the exact spot where it is. The cable is not damaged at all from the outside, and I've also taken good care of these headphones, barely using -and thus, moving it much. And the 3 pin desing is although something that we might all see as a logical design choice, but because of the damn connector,I have to buy an AKG cable in this unfortunate case(faulty cable quality) ,which is much more expensive than just buying a long jack-to jack cable. I know that faults like these are bound to happen sometimes, but at least they could've integrated a jack socket instead of this awful thing! I cant affort 10 times or 6 times the price of a cable, that is just a simple jack cable! And what if I buy the replacement AKG cable,(for the extra price)and it would turn out that the new cable is also faulty-or will get faulty just as soon as the previous one? What do I do then? Do I have to switch using this pair of phones to another, just because a couple of stupid engineering decisions? Or hopefully the problem will be sold,if I get the new cable? But then againg, how can I be really sure? otherwise the headphones themselves are amazing, but everything about it's cables and connectors are just a pile of junk. Sorry to say all that.
