A
Killer bit of kit and inexpensive :D
Angelus502 16.07.2017
I'm really impressed.. This is the second one of these I have purchased. The last one went on a PRS SE and sorted out a few stability issues very well. The latest one I put on a Jem 555 I modded with a proper Floyd and EVH d-Tuna, it works perfectly holding the tuning on the other strings when drop tuned. I was also going to tune the Jem to E flat and drop C# with the d-tuna, but my string were a bit heavy, dropping tuning down to D and Drop C was as easy as on fixed bridge guitar, no messing about having to re-tune the strings and adjust the tension on the trem springs :D

Pro's..
Cheap
Works
Easier than blocking
Easy to fit / remove

Cons.
Probably wont hold tuning with a broken string unless you wind the pre-load right up
No more trem flutter when sliding my hand of the wammy bar :(

Tricks for setup.
Wind on about 1/4 preload. It make it easy to fit and needs to be set around there for double bends and drop tune.
After its set up and holding the block - over tighten the trem springs a little.

Worth a try if you are looking at a trem setter, only takes 2 minutes to remove if you don't like it and will only leave 2 small screw holes.

Used to D-drop on an original Floyd Rose locking tremolo
Anonymous 01.05.2016
I bought this item in december 2014 and installed it on my Washburn Japan SEC's original Floyd Rose. Installation has been performed by an authorized luthier, the one that takes care of my guitars for many years.
I also had to ostall AllPArts Tremol No to make it work, as specified in instructions.

Pros
-easy to install
-simple to use
- well built
Cons
- no matter what you do, you will never be in perfect tune in both tunings (standard and D-dropped) because of the tension variations induced in the tuning system

If you play regularly in standard tuning and want ONLY to go D-dropped for a few chords, or just on stage - this item is a very good choice.
If you expect it to be in perfect tune and record in studio with it, you should definitely re-tune the guitar, especially if you play with keyboards/synthesizers.

Please note I wrote this review after trying, together with my luthier and a lot of internet research, all possibilities of installation and fine-tuning.

I hope this helps.

o
simple idea and design, big change
ozanerkal 23.02.2021
it is what it is, a very simple hack for your floyd rose bridge. but you must be aware of two things:
1. not for all floyd roses.. i have a few ibanez's but only one of them, a Jem Jr is compatible. not a problem for me as I knew it from the start.
2. not for floating floyd roses.. you need to block your FR to stop it from going high. otherwise the change in the E string tension will destroy your whole tuning. So I put a wooden block under the bridge to do the job.
