Uncompromised performance

The Antelope Discrete 8 Pro Synergy Core is a high-performance 26-in/32-out interface which blends state-of-the-art conversion/clocking technology with console-grade analogue circuitry. It features eight discrete preamps on combo XLR (doubling as line inputs), two being Hi-Z compatible. The unit has a dedicated stereo monitor output on balanced jacks, eight line outputs on D-Sub, a pair of additional "reamping" balanced line outputs, two independent headphones outputs with gain control, 16 channels of ADAT, and two more of S/PDIF. Taking advantage of Thunderbolt 3 and USB 2.0, this interface is equipped with the latest generation AD/DA converters, combined with Antelope's 64-bit AF clocking technology, ensuring eight channels of mastering-quality conversion with a dynamic range of 130dB and precise word-clock I/O for external synchronisation. Its comprehensive routing options are matched with 37 premium analogue-modelled effects on the Synergy Core platform, powered by two DSPs and an FPGA chip, offering top-tier processing with no extra CPU load. What's more, this interface features an integrated talk-back mic and a footswitch, a handy addition for studio recording!

Eight discrete preamps

The eight discrete microphone preamps of the Antelope Discrete 8 Pro Synergy Core feature a unique six-transistor topology, providing remarkably precise and transparent amplification with a noteworthy 65dB of gain. These preamps also perfectly complement the Antelope Edge line of modelling microphones since they are designed with perfectly adapted frequency responses for the Synergy Core mic-modelling technology, which features an extensive library of all-time classic microphones. The unit’s proprietary 64-bit AF clocking technology ensures ultra-precise and crystal-clear AD/DA conversion, at rates of up to 24-bit/192kHz which capture the subtlest transients during recording and mixing sessions. It also features a word-clock input and three outputs, allowing its highly stable clock signal to be distributed across the studio, or to be slaved to other Antelope interfaces.

Unleashing the power of Synergy Core

With its extensive connectivity in a compact 1U rack format, the Antelope Discrete 8 Pro Synergy Core is ideal for small studios, producers, bands, and solo musicians – as well as DAW specialists wishing to reduce CPU load. It also features the expandable and ever-growing Synergy Core library, which features 37 pro-audio real-time effects, including top-tier software emulations of vintage analogue gear and boutique rarities like compressors, EQs, and guitar effects. Powered by two DSPs and an FPGA chip, Synergy Core efficiently can handle 16 channels of effects without noticeable latency or CPU load. Each effect is easily programmable through an intuitive interface, ensuring the Discrete 8 Pro Synergy Core’s impeccable performance in tracking, mixing, and live scenarios, and demonstrating its versatility and adaptability.

About Antelope Audio

Antelope Audio is a manufacturer of professional audio equipment that was founded by developer Igor Levin, who invented the famous AardSync clock generator with which his then-company Aardvark made waves in the world of audio engineering at the end of the 20th century. In 2005, Igor Levin went – as he himself put it – back to his roots and continued to develop the AardSync concept. The result of this development work was the "Oven Clock", a word clock generator that is kept at a constant temperature of 64.5°C to provide increased stability and improve jitter performance. The newly founded Antelope Audio caused a similar splash in 2005 with its OCX Clock Generator. Today, Antelope Audio, which is based in Sofia, Bulgaria, is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of high-quality audio interfaces and AD/DA converters and includes big names such as Rihanna, Jay-Z, and the Wu-Tang Clan among its users.

Virtual patchbay for flexible routing

The Antelope Discrete 8 Pro Synergy Core's virtual patchbay provides remarkable routing flexibility with minimal complexity. Its intuitive control panel allows for the quick assignment of sound sources to any analogue or digital output through an easy drag-and-drop system, with the capability to route to multiple outputs simultaneously. The software interface offers comprehensive control over the entire interface, enabling the simultaneous use of all digital connections. It features four 32-channel low-latency virtual mixers, perfect for creating personalised headphone mixes for musicians, including Synergy Core effects, and direct monitoring. All routing parameters, level adjustments, mixing components, and Synergy Core effects can be conveniently saved as presets, significantly enhancing efficiency and adaptability in various professional audio settings.

The only thing is the damn Routing Matrix (UPDATE: And their plugins/DAW Bridge)
Ri Mi 14.06.2022
Everything about this preamp is incredible. Apart from Antelopes dumb routing matrix. It's soooooo confusing.
I'm finally all routed and recording though, and the thing is amazing.
Sounds great, and once the routing matrix becomes more familiar, it's a joy to use.
Advice to Antelope: Start making some proper useful "how to" videos, instead of these dumb ones you have at the moment which only seem to serve as advertising vids. Not useful at all.

Overall though, super super happy.

UPDATE:
Yeah, the Antelope plugins are pretty useless as their AFX2DAW DAW Bridge is glitchy and makes the plugins pretty much useless. Unless you waste I/O's
I spent a lot of money on their plugins and on the AFX2DAW and did explain the problems to Antelope on several occassions, but with no satisfactory outcome.

They just kind of skim over my observations with various spin.
And, didn't really care as I'd already paid.
Which is now doubly annoying as they are giving away all their software for free with every hardware purchase.

My loss... Nevermind.
But, @antelopoe - sort your customer care out a bit more please.
It doesn't make for any guaranteed future purchases from me.
Even though your hardware is bloody amazing :-)

a
One of the most unstable audio interfaces in the world
andy_stefanov 03.06.2024
At first I had a problem with the drivers. It won’t work properly on 44kHz. Also it not working with every USB C cable, no matter if it’s the most expensive! After that I’ve found some noise in the preamps, they changed the device with a new one, this noise was there again. After that, the inputs started to break down and stopped work one by one. After few months, they’ve just started to work properly again, with the noise, offcourse. In two years of use I want to throw this product over the window because of the bad software and driver problems. The support is so slow, hard to reach. Overall it sounds great, excluding the white noise in the preamps.
