DiMarzio DP 245FBK Dominion Bridge

Sound: I put this in my strat during my conversion to a H-S-S (technically H-S-H, with the DiMarzio chopper in the neck). The pickup is amazing sounding, producing searing metal tones, with tight palm mutes and pinch harmonics. The tone is massive, especially after I put on a set of .11 string on the strat. The sound clean is surprisingly bluesy sound, with funk or even country sound great using it.

Quality: The build quality is great, with the adjustable pole-pieces allowing you to tailor how each string reacts through the pickup, giving you the ability to really fine tune your tone. No hum through the pickup due to bad electronics, and everything tightly secured together, this little baby isn't falling apart any time soon.

Overall I am amazed by this pickup. I really need to hand it to the techs over at DiMarzio and Mark Morton for crafting a great pickup.

Having had the pickup for several months now I really dig the metal sounds one can get out of it - this is why I got it, so I am glad it worked.
It may be the set up but I noticed lots of treble power - this can be tammed with my amp tone controls (or perhaps you could use an equalizer).
The range it can cover is massive. With the tone rolled down it is good for jazz and then as you increase the tone it gets more into the heavy/metal territory.
I have the Dominion in two of my guitars (les paul style and PRS style) and it does work on both.
I also have used the split coil sounds - I do not own a fender so it is difficult to say it has fender like tones, but I do dig it and it adds versatility to the sound - but, as a matter of course, there is a volume loss (noticeable) when splitting the pickup - something akin to any humbucker that gets split.

-Monté sur une guitare de luthier Manche érable, touche ébène, corps aulne , il es venu remplacer mon SH-13 qui était trop déséquilibré au profit des aigus sur cette guitare.

Basses bien présente, assez serrés et propres, ideal sur de grosses saturation, ça ne bave pas.
Une bonne assise dans le bas mid qui permet,d'obtenir des palm mutes massifs.
Hauts mids proche d'un SH-4JB, presents mais pas trop perçant, permet de bien se placer d'emblé dans un mix, et aigus équilibrées.

Niveau de sortie moyen, afin d'obtenir des distos incisives, tres precises et propre. Bave moins qu'un micro a haute sortie.
Permet d'obtenir des cleans chaleureux sur un canal "warm" et des clean brillants qui ne sont pas trop agressifs.

Tres bonne dynamique grace a son niveau moyen de sortie, même sur distos extreme ça ne bave pas.

C'est bien le son Mark Morton que l'on obtiens sur un ampli reglé pour. Et il respecte bien la tonalité naturelle de la lutherie.

Par comparaison, c'est tres proche du Breed mais plus propre dans les basses. c'est proche d'un EMG65 en manche mais sans le surplus de basses. Moin agressif sur les clean qu'un EMG 81. Parfait pour le metal.

Mal ein ganz anderer pickup! Ich hatte immer das Problem dass mir high gain pickups zu kratzig sind und sich mit den Höhen in den Vordergrund drängen. Zu wenig Dynamik, aber andere Pickups mit weniger output waren zwar dynamisch aber matschig. Der Dominion kann beides gut.

Beim Dominion ist die Resonanzfrequenz etwas tiefer als bei vielen anderen Pickups. Geschätzt um die 1k oder sogar etwas darunter. Er hat also einen sehr schönen Vokalen "aah" Sound mit den Höhen etwas runter gedreht. Das zerrt den Verstärker direkt in die Mitten wodurch der Sound sehr voll und druckvoll wird. Die Höhen kommen dann von der Zerre selber und nicht vom Pickup.

Ein schöner Nebeneffekt ist dass Pickgeräusche nicht so auffällig sind wie zB beim Dimarzio Crunch Lab. Er hat die Resonanz etwas höher und deutlich mehr Höhen wodurch man jedes kratzen und clicken hört. Ausserdem gefällt mir der mittige Sound vom Dominion generell besser als das Schrein vom Crunch Lab, der sich sehr in den Vordergrund drängen will. In den Mitten spielt die Musik für Gitarristen :)

Der Dominion hat ein relativ niedrigen Output im Vergleich zu den ganzen metal Pickups. Deswegen hat er mehr Dynamik, leichtes picken verändert den Sound sehr schön und alles wird nicht so komprimiert.

Nur im clean und leichten crunch, oh je. Da gefällt mir der Dominion so gar nicht. Da hört man die eine mittige Resonanz sehr schnell raus, für mich fast etwas störend. Als hätte man das tone Poti etwas runter gedreht. Man kann aber nicht alles haben, dafür ist der Dominion im high gain einfach genial. Man kann ihn aber etwas mit dem Volume Poti zähmen :)

Übrigends, der Dominion Neck ist einer meiner lieblings Pickups für den Hals. Er ist so sauber und ausgeglichen, da macht es einfach Spass mit leichtem crunch zu spielen.
