A
EMG BTS System ? Great Tone Shaping
Anonymous 31.03.2016
I fitted this as an upgrade (along with a set of EMG PJX pickups) to my Epiphone EBM-4 bass. The original setup utilised passive pickups with active electronics. The pre-amp board went on the original, so I decided to overhaul.

Instant new bass, I?m really happy with the results. The sound quality is far superior compared to the original setup. The bass and treble controls provide a nice level of boost/cut and the internal dip switches allow for additional tonal options.

I opted for an 18v power configuration, this required a little soldering. Well worth opting for the higher voltage supply as it ensures a really strong signal. You will need a second battery clip for this, only one is provided with the kit.

My output jack was a long barrel style one and I also had to solder its connections.

Pros:
Easy to install due to the quick connect system
Very clear instructions
All materials required were provided, including some shrink tubing if you have to solder like I did.

Cons:
These have long pot stems which didn?t fit 100% as planned however was overcome with some washers, so no big issue.

Verdict:
I?m very pleased with my purchase. It arrived on time and allowed for a hassle-free installation. A quality product, would highly recommend this.

J
Set The Controls For The Heart Of The Sound
JDstrings 11.06.2013
I fitted this unit as an upgrade (along with matching EMG pickups) to a bass I had made. The sound and quality is obviously far better than the original generic system I used and the connectors mean that it was fuss-free to fit. The bass and treble controls provide pleasing amounts of cut and boost at very sensible frequencies.
It came with perfectly adequate instructions showing various different configurations and there is also information on the EMG website.

CG
Best tone for Bass
Carol G. 31.07.2015
My BCRich came with the original soldered EMG units, which I love. after the original FX processor went some years later, I decided to stick to the same sound but had to purchase the whole pot set and fx processor since it's now prewired and uses the solder less connections. The use of the solder less connections made the refitting that much easier and would have been a breeze if it weren't for the fact that the instructions didn't have my particular wiring setup. Also the pot stem length seems to be shorter than the original which resulted in some minor modifications to the bass body, something purest's perhaps wouldn't like to find out after purchase.

P
Perfect for an old Warwick
Peter842 24.04.2023
Got hold of a mid 90s Warwick Fortress whose (original MEC) preamp was faulty. Options are limited due to the active pickups, but went for the EMG due to the great value and the active blend control, which really makes this preamp, as there is none of the odd on/off behavior of standard blends. The whole range of the control is smooth and usable. Also the treble frequency/Q is internally adjustable, to fine tune to taste or the instrument.
