I'm relatively new to working with DMX and moving-heads, but I wanted to achieve a little more advanced lighting so I treated myself to a purchase.
Thomann, as usual, very reliable as well as speedy in packing and sending my stuff. I chose an express delivery, which UPS handled very well this time, and I had my products the following day. They came in mint condition.
The lamps are pretty light in weight so very handy, you don't have to assemble anything, just plug them in, and honestly for this price I can't imagine finding any better. There's products from other companies, simpler, non-moving LED bars/tubes and whatnot that can cost a lot more and not offer the versatility of a moving-head.
They also come with a mounting accessory for hanging. One of the features that I really love, in a nerdy way, is the simple fact that you can choose to turn the display text upside down, if you choose to hang the lamp, so you don't have to turn your head to try to read anything on the display, that's just neat!
What I'm missing a little bit is an on/off switch on every unit, I always feel uncomfortable just pulling the plug on a device. I'm also thinking that just a longer power cable would have been another plus, but that's also something I can fix on my own, should I really need it.
I agree with other reviewers, you will definitely hear them during the movement, so that could be a nuisance if what you're using them for requires more silence. Of my six devices, I think one in particular is a little louder. For me, however, that's not an issue so far and I also think it depends on the room you're in and how you place the units.
To be able to program, I also purchased a DMX controller, after getting valuable advice from Thomann suport.
As a relative beginner, I was afraid it would be much more difficult, but the units are pretty straightforward, the manual is clear enough and with a little help from Google and a friend, I got a nice setup in no time.
I can highly recommend these moving-heads, this was a great purchase for me and I will be using them a lot. It's also a great challenge to learn new stuff and program more advanced scenes and these are great for doing that a bit more on a budget.
