A precise two-way studio monitor

The EVE Audio SC208 is a compact, active two-way studio monitor and the largest model of its kind in the SilverCone series. Thanks to the combination of the advanced AMT-RS2 tweeter and 8" SilverCone woofer, it achieves precise audio reproduction over the stated frequency range between 36 Hz and 21 kHz. The tweeter and SilverCone woofer are powered by two powerful Class D amplifiers, rated at 50 W and 150 W respectively. An internal, high-resolution DSP also provides filters that allow precise adjustment to the acoustic environment. The SC208 studio monitor receives its signals via either an RCA or XLR connection.

Smart knob und DSP

The internal DSP electronics include a high-quality Burr-Brown AD converter with 24 bit/192 kHz, which converts incoming analogue signals via RCA and XLR into digital signals and sends them unaltered to the DSP for further processing. Levelling of the system volume as well as the adjustment of filters for room variables are made via the front smart knob, while the LED ring displays the selected settings. The brightness of the LEDs can be dimmed for dark lighting conditions. The DIP switches on the back of the housing are also worthy of special mention, as they can be used to secure volume and filter settings against unintentional adjustment.

Optimum price-performance ratio

Thanks to high-quality components, the compact EVE Audio SC208 achieves incredible sound quality on a par with larger models. The SC208 is characterised by high transparency and a bass response that is extremely precise relative to its size, starting at 36 Hz. This makes it the perfect monitor speaker for all situations in which larger speaker systems cannot be used due to lack of space, or when smaller monitors are needed for comparative listening. Experienced home studio owners as well as professional sound and post-production studios get a high-quality monitor at a fair price with the SC208.

About EVE Audio

The German company EVE Audio is based in Berlin and was founded in 2011. It dedicates itself to the production of professional studio monitors in various versions, which deliver detailed sound not only to sound engineers but also to consumers. The company offers monitors for every application in a wide variety of rooms and for every budget. Thanks to the enhanced technology of the Air Motion Transformer, all of the company's speakers are characterised by minimal sound discolouration, precise tweeter adjustment, and improved distortion behaviour. The SC3010 and SC3012 monitors were introduced in March 2014, followed in April 2015 by the SC203 desktop speaker and the PMR 2.10 passive monitor router. Today, EVE Audio products are sold in more than 60 countries.

For stereo and multi-channel use

The SC208 from EVE Audio can be used for different near and midfield configurations. For example, when used as a pair, these bi-amped speakers serve as an excellent main monitor in small to medium-sized production rooms. For this purpose, it is recommended that it be combined with a subwoofer from the ThunderStorm series, which supports the SC208 speakers in the low end for an even wider frequency range. The SC208 also makes a good B monitor, and can be used in multi-channel systems, whether as a centre, rear, or front speaker. This makes EVE Audio's SC208 a versatile monitoring tool for music and multimedia applications.

In the spotlight: SilverCone

EVE Audio uses a honeycomb-structured sandwich diaphragm for the SilverCone woofers of its SC models, which thanks to glass fibre coating offers an optimum balance between material rigidity and the production of resonances for precise playback. A copper-cap magnet system further reduces potential distortion. The result is a low distortion factor and increased transparency. Depending on the monitor model, the diaphragm is also driven by a 1" or 1.5" voice coil, which enables dynamic bass reproduction through a high, linear excursion.

A new set of ears!
Studio10Music.com 19.02.2021
Upgraded from my old Yamaha HS80M which I'd been using for 10 years.
Wow! I'm staggered at the difference in quality across the whole frequency spectrum. Bass is super tight, punchy and has plenty of subs - you wont need a separate sub. Mids give excellent stereo information including a detailed sense of space between front and back. High end is smooth, pristine and detailed. My old Yamahas tended to be harsh in the high-end a bit strangled in the lows when the in-built limiter kicked in.
I've not yet used the on-board DSP as I have Sonarworks Ref 4 to adjust to my room.

I've spent a few hours tonight listening to reference mixes and it's been like having new ears that can hear so much more detail.

Not budget speakers but boy are they worth it.

Accurate & balanced sound: a quality near-field monitor
DimitriA 10.09.2013
+ wooden box: great built quality
+ pronounced bass, no subwoofer required
+ plenty of power: can be used in large rooms
+ brutally honest and accurate sound: very easy to add EQ and reverb to a mix, you will hear things that you have not heard before
+ competitive price point (see Adam 7x)

- too heavy to attach to wall (a bad idea anyway since monitors are rear-ported for bass)
- flimsy plastic dial (but great LEDs)

x unkown: customer service

OVERALL IMPRESSION: great monitors for large rooms when subwoofer is not desired

Superb sound quality but failed after 4 years
lezso6 10.05.2022
Best studio monitors I ever had. My previous setup was a pair of Adam A7X + a Sub8 subwoofer, which sound where a bit colored, and the Eve SC208s are suprisingly neutral sounding. It has very defined mids and the high-end is perfectly balanced, not hyped like the A7X. The bass is very deep and dynamic, it really goes down to 35 Hz at -3 dB, the lowest usable note is D# (39 Hz).

Unfortunately these perfect sounding speakers suddenly stopped working after 4 years of use, no sound coming from them, only cracks and pops. I hope it can be fixed.

Should've known to go to the source (GER) for serious gear. The call is coming from the U.S. !

What a tight bit of gear, folks and somehow less pricey than they charge for it stateside. I'm in love!
