T
Really nice spec, mediocre execution
Taikonaut 16.11.2023
I decided to treat myself and buy a real Fender after playing on a Squer for the past couple of years. This instrument ticked all boxes, rosewood fingerboard, 7.25 radius, true feel and look of the 60s. Unfortunately the execution leaves lot to be desired. It came from the factory with string action high enough to fit my whole index finger between strings and fretboard at 12th fret. Unfortunately adjusting this became bothersome as well as the frets were so uneven and the neck was so crooked that even a small adjust to truss rod resulted a noticeable fret buzz. In addition the pickups are so noisy that it became difficult to practice in a quiet room when all pauses sound like "bzzzz". I brought the instrument to a local luthier who straightened the neck, filed the fret ends and levelled the frets, in addition he made isolation to pickups which improved the situation. Now it is in a comfortably playable condition, but still not as well playable as my Squier which got the setup at the same Luther. String action is higher and on 1st and 2nd string the neck feels dead after 9th fret. So in general quite mixed feelings, especially after spending considerable amount to get it in a good shape which resulted a mediocre instrument at best. The spec is really nice though so of you get luckier with the QC then it can yield a beautiful instrument for years to come.
