Compact and versatile

The Fun Generation CL 105 A is a compact active personal monitor, featuring a 5" full-range driver and available at a surprisingly low purchase price. Without breaking the bank, this device offers several features usually not found in this price range - after all, who would expect an integrated USB player, a three-band EQ, and Bluetooth connectivity for such a low price, all of which are included in this monitor speaker? Although its 50W RMS won't exactly suffice for a stadium, this speaker still makes a convincing case thanks to both its versatility in many other sound reinforcement situations and its price-performance ratio.

A little brute with great connectivity

The Fun Generation CL 105 A features a Class D power amplifier with a frequency range from 40Hz to 18kHz and an impressive sound pressure level (SPL) of 92db, making this little powerhouse a great fit for amplification in smaller venues. The three-band equaliser allows treble, mid-range, and bass to be boosted or lowered separately by 12dB each. The speaker features one input in jack/XLR combo format together with another in XLR format for mic signals and a pair of cinch sockets for line-level signals from hi-fi equipment. What is more, an additional line socket in 3.5mm mini-jack format serves as the perfect solution for connecting playback devices, smartphones, tablets, laptops, and computers to the CL 105 A.

Fun Generation CL 105 A Active Personal Monitor

All geared up

Thanks to its separately adjustable microphone and line inputs as well as its built-in USB player, the Fun Generation CL 105 A is the the perfect solution for wedding singers performing in small rooms such as registry offices, making excessively large PA systems obsolete. While guitarists can use this speaker for practice sessions at home, karaoke fans can connect their microphones and hi-fi equipment, and hosts and presenters can amplify their microphone sound in seminar rooms or trade show booths as they please. And those who want to frequently bring this 2.3kg lightweight speaker along with them should go for either a fitting padded bag or even a suitable hardshell case.

About Fun Generation

Since 1999, the products of Thomann's house brand Fun Generation have been an integral part of the store's range. These products, which are made by renowned companies who also manufacture products for other well-known brands, provide a convincing combination of quality and reliability at reasonable prices. The product range includes music stands and other hardware, Bluetooth speakers, LED spotlights, moving head lighting systems, and complete active PA sets as well as LED effects, microphone pickup systems, cables, and splitters. Price-conscious customers in the field of lighting and stage technology are sure to find what they are looking for in this extensive product range, which includes over 160 items.

PA and monitoring system in one

With its standby function, the Fun Generation CL 105 A powers down automatically if there is no input signal for 30 minutes, which is particularly great for users such as dance class instructors who want to focus on the participants immediately afterwards. Its line, instrument, and microphone inputs, as well as an input for external playback devices, makes this small active speaker a perfect fit for PA use at parties in small rooms, while singer-songwriters can use it as a convenient solution for practising at home or in the rehearsal room, or even as a monitor wedge on stage. And thanks to the flange on the bottom of the housing and the optionally available stand adapter, the monitor can also be placed on any standard speaker sound, making itself heard clearly even for the back rows of a room during presentations or vocal performances.

CL 105 A - nice.
Peter R. 438 03.06.2023
I am using mine as a stage monitor, on a mic stand, 1/2 meter to the right of my mic, mic stand, around 3/4m high, it points straight at me and sounds good at around 1/3rd volume.
I have the genuine Mackie version of the cl105a, but the Mackie is 1 killo heavier, needing a full size mic stand for stability, consuming floor space. My cl105a, much lighter, only needs a light cast iron base mic stand, using 1/3rd the floor space of a standard mic stand (less stage clutter).
The cl105a has a few more features than the Mackie, the cl105a has BT + memory stick 'usb' mp3 player + mp3 control buttons & 3.5m mini jack socket more than the Mackie, but only 2 channels, the Mackie has 3 channels, other features are similar, 3 eq controls, master volume.
The sound quality from these 2 is almost the same, both with 5 inch speakers, but the Mackie is much louder, 'loud' is not needed in a close up monitor.
The eq on the Mackie has much more range, but I mostly use eq flat (12 o'clock), eq'd at the mixing desk, so no problems there.
Over all, the (my) cl105 is an improvement for me at larger venues. all connected, it fits into my sound system perfectly.
I think the cl105a is a thomann brand, I have full confidence in thomann products, some I've had for 18 years, mostly reliable and mostly good performers + 3 year warranty :-)

Useful Piano Monitor
3rdElder 14.12.2021
Deployed the CL150 as a piano monitor for a Nord stage piano. Our keyboardist seems to like it ... its lightweight, works well, and is simple to use. We got the stand adapter with it, so it sits easily on a spare mic stand.
The sound quality is ok, not much bass, but that's to be expected. The only minor complaint is that line out is a bit noisy (so we don't use it!)

It is doing the job
EL BRUNO 02.03.2019
This small monitor is doing exactly what it is made for.
I can hear what I am singing and I can hear my guitar while I am gigging. It is loud enough when it is standing in front of you.
The frequence range starts at 30 Hertz in the description. But I cannot hear the low sounds very well on this one. That could be better.
But in relation to the price it is OK and I will not give it away.
I bought it together with the soft bag and that is a good deal.
For only 9 Euro more I got the bag.
I have the Behringer Eurolive B205D too for a few years and that sound is better. But it is not really louder. And the price is higher.
All in all I am happy with the new CL 105 A.
I didn't check the USB player because I don't need that. It is a nice extra.

Outstanding for the money
Andy739 18.01.2019
I bought this so I can jam along to tracks on my bass at home without setting my stack up. For the modest cost an amazing bit of kit that sounds really good at the sort of volumes I need to rehearse at. Reccomended
