Harley Benton Parts Pickguard SSS WP

I've always liked this type of pick guard, it looks stylish and strong being of 3 ply construction.Fitting was so easy, it took me 20 mins to dis-assemble and reassemble, the fit was perfect for my 1960 Fender strat although I did have to drill 3 extra holes for additional screw, if you are going to order one of these pick guards it is recommended that you order the pack of fender screws also. Any plectrum scratches will be hard to detect with this style of pick guard which helps keep the appearance of your instrument looking great. The price of this guard was a bargin compared to the genuine Fender replacement, and in my opinion this is of better quality.

Great for a facelift

I bought this to do a face lift on my squire strat. Some of you may find that it fits straight on but I had to do some minor filing to get it to fit. My advice is to take your old face plate and put it below the new plate and use it as a template to mark any material you need to remove. The plastic is easy to work with so a half round file could be all you will need. There is some foil shielding on the back of the plate near the holes for the 3 pots and the selector switch but you may want to add a bit more to try and cut down on unwanted noise.
The pearl pattern is very pretty and well worth the money.

I used this pickguard as basis for a custom paint pickguard. It was installed on a custom made ST style guitar (not Harley Benton)
The product, in its original color looks very good, I did not have problems with the screw hole alignment.
On the down side, it feels that the center axis is shifted slightly to the left, so I ended up having to make small adjustments to the bridge and neck cuts (mounted on a non-Harley Benton guitar).

Nicely made, but not necessarily a drop-in replacement

I bought this to replace the plain white pick-guard on my Harley Benton Strat clone. I was hoping that - since they were both Harley Benton - that the screw-holes would all line up. Unfortunately they do not, so I had to do some plugging and drilling. I also had to finesse the perimeter of the pickguard with a Dremel and a file to get it to fit between the neck and the bridge, and the holes for the potentiometers are 5/8" (9.5mm) whereas the potentiometers on the guitar are 8mm.

Interestingly, it does to to match up perfectly with a pick-guard I took off a genuine (Mexican) Fender Strat from 2018, so I guess this is made to Fender specifications and not to Harley Benton specifications. Go figure.

Anyway, this isn't a criticism - just a note of caution. It looks lovely in real life - there is a really nice depth to the pearlescent effect: the picture on the Thomann website doesn't do it justice at all. Despite having to go to a little more trouble to install it than I was hoping for, it looks great on the guitar and I'm very happy with it

EDIT 2024: In 2018, I bought the genuine Fender version of this. Fast-forward 6 years and the genuine Fender one has yellowed very badly but this Harley Benton one is still as white as it was the day I bought it. I'm back here now to buy this one for my Strat to replace the now nasty-looking Fender original
