I bought this to use on my cello which has never been cleaned in about 30 years of use.
I used about half the bottle in a pretty serious clean and it did a good job of making the varnish look much better. I was a bit nervous about putting it on in case it damaged the finish at all but it didn't, thankfully.

A nice product

A varnish cleaner by a well known maker
If you need to clean your instrument or refresh it after tons of rosin, you should generally ask your luthiers opinion or let him do it by himself
However on the rare occasions in which you need to do it yourself there is a nice and handy alternative offered by this cleaner
apply it in small drops in a cloth and try it in a small area before using it on the whole instrument just to make sure everything is ok
It has a strong (but nice smell) at first. To me it smelled like a camphor extract but of course I could not be sure of the exact ingredients...

Hill varnish cleaner
Christopher6349 19.08.2015
High quality product from the famed W E Hill & Sons. Use sparingly to clean surface dirt and rosin from your instrument. Best to test a small area first. Okay if your instrument is not too dirty - if it is I would recommend a clean from a professional luthier, particularly if your instrument is valuable and, or, has a soft varnish.
