[updated] Excellent manufacturing, great sound
maferkan 25.11.2018
[current] after almost 2 years with this recorder, I am excited every time I pick it up to play. The sound is so round and full bodied that even a drone note is a pleasure to listen to. I have also come to like the slight "airiness" (or chiff) it produces. Could not recommend more.

It's my first and only tenor so I might sin of lack of experience/knowledge. The higher volume of air required generates an audible "whiiizzz", especially on the G, which feels like some of the air is getting out of the labium rather than inside the internal bore. Perhaps it's the same % of air as in sopranos and altos, the difference is made by the pressure hence the noise...
I checked the tuning electronically (Garage Band feature) and to hit some notes (F/G/A) of the main register I need to blow much more than for E/D/C in the same register, again the delta being felt greater than for smaller recorders and I don't know if it applies to all tenors or just to this one.

beautiful sound
Lisa2021 16.01.2021
I absolutely love the beautiful warm, full sound of this recorder, especially in the lower notes. I also like its contemporary, sleek design. I've only had it for a week and I'm still in the process of playing it in so probably it hasn't reached its full potential yet, but so far I'm very happy. I really can't fault it. I bought a thumb rest as the instrument is a bit heavier than what I'm used to (I play the alto) and I felt that it was slipping away when playing the D. The bag is a little bit too small; the zipper hits the middle joint when I close it.

Good value, strong highs, weak lows
Nick2138 13.06.2022
The response is excellent. The tone is mellow and round with few overtones, similar to Mollenhauer's Dream lines.

Notes from low F and up are wonderful. It speaks very easily through the high C (highest I've gone) and trills well throughout. It plays well at a surprisingly low volume (intonation notwithstanding), but can also be fairly loud.

The low C and E are rather unstable and so must be played quietly. The low D is harsh and louder than the C or E, and so must be played quietly to blend with its neighbors and hide its harshness. While this is all normal for a baroque recorder, I was hoping for better performance from the low register based on my experience with the Waldorf Edition alto in particular.

Though my (male) hands are small-ish, I have no trouble or discomfort while playing low notes.

All things considered, the Waldorf Edition tenor is a great instrument for the price, but the weak low notes may limit its usefulness, e.g. for renaissance music.

Highly recommended
NoaCastillo 28.06.2024
I’ve had my waldorf tenor recorder now for almost a year now and I’m very satisfied. It speaks beautifully and has an amazing tone.
The only problem I had was that 6 months after I received my tenor recorder, the intonation of some of the notes worsen, and the response of the recorder suddenly changed. Well this was due to the block changing shape after being broken in and an indication that the instrument needed to be revoiced; which is normal for any new recorders. So I had it sent back to Thomann for revoicing. I have my recorder again and I am very impressed with Thomann’s customer service and help throughout this entire process, now the recorder speaks beautifully again.
This is a great Tenor recorder for beginners and for any musicians. Highly recommend!
