It works really well and the quality is great. At this new version the sleeve is a hard plastic which I prefer better than the rubber one on the old NP2X-AU. The only minor flaw on these Neutrik plugs are the soldering lugs which require a good skill on soldering due to narrow spacing. The movable metal ring may feel that it doesn't run so smooth but when plugged to the instrument it works just fine. The old version never let me down and I believe this updated version never will either.

Im Lieferzustand "läuft" die bewegliche Hülse des Steckers spürbar "rauh".

Wenn man – vorzugsweise bereits im Neuzustand des Steckers – "KONTAKT 61" oder mit einem Zahnstocher eine homöopathische(!) Menge Synthetiköl in die Spalte der beweglichen Hülse appliziert, gleitet die Hülse merklich leichter.

Seit der SilentPLUG auf den Markt kam habe ich einige Dutzend davon montiert und entweder mit Kontaktspray oder Öl behandelt. Keiner davon ist selbst im rauhen Bühneneinsatz und nach weit über tausend Steckzyklen jemals ausgefallen, und die gefühlte Laufeigenschaft der alten Hülsen entspricht noch immer derjenigen im Neuzustand.

Tatsächlich ist bei Verwendung von Öl das befürchtete Kriechen auf die Steckerkontakte mit der Folge einer isolierenden Benetzung niemals eingetreten.

Der SilentPLUG bedarf allerdings grundsätzlich einer achtsameren Handhabung als ein Standard-Stecker. Das Einbringen feinster Fremdkörper kann die Schaltmechanik unter Umständen irreparabel blockieren.
