Future is now!

After one year with Linnstrument, I can honestly say that it has changed the way I approach music in a good way. Haven't been blessed with the talent/patience to learn neither piano nor guitar, I'm finally able to 'understand' music theory and play some tunes, all thanks to the isomorphic layout of Linnstrument. On top of that, it's a sound designers dream to be able to program patches for such expressive instrument. You can cover wide range of sonic expression with minimal finger movements/gestures and some clever parameter mapping that it really gets into the acoustic instruments territory. New features are being added constantly with every firmware update. Roger Linn has individual approach to every his customer which is something you don't see often these days. The hardware is well designed and executed and is relatively easily serviceable by end user (i.e. disassembly for cleaning of the silicon sheet). I'm really considering getting a smaller brother - Linnstrument 128 just for traveling.
I can wholeheartedly recommend this technology marvel to any modern musician. Layout is perhaps closer to guitarists/bass players, for pianists there is Roli range of expressive keyboards but Linnstrument can operate standalone, without the need of connected PC thanks to set of classical MIDI connectors. Big thanks to Roger Linn for this invention!

Fantastic instrument interface

I just love this though it will need some time to get used to. Combine it with MPE compatible software synths or Waldorf Iridium and you can so much more feeling and personal touch on your synth performances.

Awesome midi controller
HGarden 21.02.2023
Absolutely amazing product, works straight out of the box. The play surface takes a bit to get used to, but if you are a guitar or bass player then it will come more naturally. Can recommend to anyone looking for a more expressive midi controller

Great for organically developing sounds

Setting up MPE in a synth like Serum is fairly easy and can yield some very interesting results and let you make unique performative sounds that can give you an edge, instead of always relying on premade pads. For controlling strings and orchestral instruments I still prefer the keyboard because if you use try replacing the mod wheel with the pressure the CC resets to 0 the moment you release the keys.
