Royer Labs at their best with low budget high quality ribbon.
amazing sound. i use it on guitar amps, acoustic guitars, it's real sweet for violins and mandolins (tames of the harshness) and it is a absolute rockstar when i use as a room mic. (for drums small ensembles etc)
It lives on the guitar cabs, but I put it out form drum sessions. it is definitely my secret weapon!

Lovely ribbon sound on guitars, vocals and drums
Moogieman 09.04.2019
With a sturdy and aesthetically pleasing design, the R10 is easy to mount and position.

It's got a beautiful smooth ribbon sound that rolls off any possible harshness on acoustic guitars, cabs (especially with a full-on distorted sound and coupled with a dynamic) and cymbals through overheads.

While it's not always the most suitable for vocals it's my go to as it tames more cutting tones and responds wel to EQ boost if a voice needs more high-end character.

Haven't found any deficiencies yet. The box is nice and protective but it would be nice if a shockmount was provided. I've been able to find an inexpensive one but need a small layer of foam to keep the mic firmly in place.

Okay but not worth the money
Clavis Muziek 12.10.2020
The most impressive aspect: very high SPL
Another very impressive aspect: very little background-noise is picked up. So very good for studio's in a noisy environment. But you have to have a preamp with high gain. I used the Focusrite ISA828 on this, so that was no problem.
But the overall sound disappointed me. I had to do a lot of eq-ing to get this mic sound good enough. I wanted to use this for voice. Maybe it will sound better on instruments.

That is a spot on name for this mic. When taken with care regarding placement (fig 8) it delivers a silk and truthfully catches that important detail of its source. Place a bit further than u think (not to damage it). I tried it on drums, horns, bass cab, double bass(pizz) and other strings with excellent results. Wouldn't use it for vocal (afraid of singer bloein into it. You ll never regret buyin it
