I tried more expensive riqs but this is absolutely my favourite. To be direct, the sound is from Egypt the design is from Germany, perfect match for a riq!

excellent instrument. fantastic sound, not only the skin but the jingles as well. the skin can be tighten to alter the tone. shame it doesnt include a bag to protect it.

Leider wurde nach telefonisch eingeholter Auskunft von Schlagwerk das Instrument dahingehend geändert, daß ab der Produktion 1/2013 die Daumenaussparungen nicht mehr vorhanden sind. - In meinen Augen und Händen eine "Verschlimmbesserung".
Für kleine Hände von Erwachsenen wird das Spielen erheblich erschwert und für Kinder im sogenannten Soft-Stiel gänzlich unmöglich. Zusätzlich werden Modulationsvarianten der Fellspannung durch Daumendruck von innen beinahe verhindert. Der gemessene Felldurchmesser des neuen Modells beträgt 23cm (Innenkannte zu Innenkante).
Mein Schlagwerk-Riqq aus dem Jahr 2007 hat auch, wie ich finde, besser klingende und sorgfältiger verarbeitete Schellen.
