For that ZZ '59 sound

Let me tell you right away, this little thing is a tone monster! Based on the actual pickups found on Billy Gibbons (ZZ Top) 1959 Gibson Les Paul "Pearly Gates", this neck humbucker pickup with nickel cover just cuts the sound off of ZZ Tops first couple of albums straight away. And the tonal range is fantastic - from that juicy, bluesy Texas sound to funky jazz. It goes all the way. Combine it with the Seymour Duncan Pearly Gates bridge pickup, or something hotter, and you have a real rock n roll tone monster in your hand.
I was really curious about the Seymour Duncan Pearly gates pickups and bought me a pair (both the neck and bridge pickups) and installed them on a 2012 Gibson Les Paul Standard. The first time I plugged in my custom made "Pearly Gates" through the clean channel of my little Fender Super Champ X2, it just blew me away. Add an overdrive pedal in front of that and it takes you right back to that early 1970'ies Texas blues. I am super impressed by the range of sounds these pickups make.
