... If you need it

I have the SD STK S4M in a set of SD Stk-S4. It's used in a Stratocaster American Special Strat.

Tone:

The (S4m) tone is okay, but nothing too great. First off, the set is rather low output, making it a good choice for rock, where you use moderate amounts of gain. Keep in mind, that you will not have as much clarity and sparkle as when using actual single coils (even in split mode), playing clean.

On the other hand, for playing in higher gain regions, you have a rather fat bridge and neck pickup, which makes the in-between positions way less desirable. Although when split, the reverse polarity works as expected. You get a hum-cancelling, (slightly) humbuckeresque sound.

As the pickup works well with the set, I'd buy this pickup with the others, but probably not as a single mid-PU.

Pure Strat tone and no Hum!
SteveguitarmanWebb 25.07.2017
Installed on a 1980 Japanese Fender Squier Strat, a guitar l use on live gigs (+200 shows a year), these pick ups give totally authentic Strat tones and with a push/pull switch l can eliminate any hum from lighting rig interference etc. with no discernible loss of tone in humbucking mode. Running through four or five pedals and into a 100 watt Marshall. Usual excellent Seymour Duncan quality. Recommend you use a pro to fit them if you're not great at soldering....lot of wires!

The best single coil hum free

Such a great things to step on the distortion pedal and ear the sound of this pick up. The sound is "Seymour Duncan" quality... the noise... simply not there.

Brummende Single Coils sind von gestern!
Gibson LP 04.06.2011
