This is the second Seymour Duncan STC-2P powered EQ for passive bass pickups I have bought and am as delighted with it just as much the second time around as the first.
The first was fitted into an own-design fretless with Seymour Duncan passive Jazz pickups. This latest one into a custom built, single cut fretted bass with passive DiMarzio P/J pickups.
In both cases I have been knocked out both by the sheer range of tones available and the ease of use. Volume knob (pull for slap bass enhanced EQ), blend knob with mid point detent (turn one way for neck pickup, the other way for bridge and at the positive detent click for middle) and then a stacked positive boost and cut for treble and bass, again detented to easily feel where the neutral position is.
With those controls, the whole spectrum of tones is available - from a natural and neutral EQ to way, way beyond the scope of the un-enhanced pickups. All tones sound clean, all tones sound usable.
I will be buying this product again for future builds!

I'm using it with two Seymour Duncan SSB-4's and a little annoying hiss on the extreme bright side is the only week thing I've run into. The controls are extremely versatile and I find myself constantly playing in "funk" mode. Remember to disconnect the cable after playing though! For some reason they didn't implement a "switch of" on this preamp, so if you leave it plugged after playing, it will drain the battery rather quickly.

Possésseur d'un micro SPB-3 et SJB-3 B, je désirais optimiser mon son avec l'adjonction de l'electronique idoine recommandée par Seylour Duncan sur son site. Bien mal m'en à pris, du son hors phase à un buzz de masse persistant, que rien ni personne -ni mon luthier, ni le spécialiste local en électronique n'ont su le faire taire, ma basse ne fait donc pas le plein bonheur de mes oreilles, j'ai pour m'en contenter dû ajouter au cocktail quelques pédales de chez EHX qui, elles, font bien le boulot. Déçu, et c'est peu de le dire.

Einfacher Einbau, guter Sound

Ich habe diese Elektronik in einen Ibanez Soundgear aus den 80ern eingebaut dessen Werkselektronik nicht mehr funktionierte. Der Einbau war zunächst ganz Einfach. Im E-Fach wurde es dann aber schon recht eng, hat gerade eben noch gepasst.
Beim ersten Test funktionierte aber der Höhenregler nicht. Es tat sich nichts, erst auf Minimum machte es "bupp" und der Sound war komplett weg. Also wieder raus und kontrolliert ob ich einen Fehler gemacht habe. Nein, war alles in Ordnung. Dann habe ich mir das Doppelpoti für die Klangregelung genauer angesehen. Durch eine unsaubere Lötstelle, waren zwei Kontakte verbunden die es nicht sein durften. Das war definitiv nicht von mir. Verbindung getrennt - läuft!
Eigentlich halte ich was von Seymour Duncan, aber das war nicht so toll.
Vom Sound her finde ich die Elektronik aber gut abgestimmt. Die Bässe kommen fett und bleiben dabei straff und die Höhen klingen schön präsent aber nicht spitz und nicht aufdringlich.
Von daher bin ich mit dem Kauf zufrieden, den Frust zwischendurch hätte ich mir aber lieber erspart.
