Let's start this with the confession: I've never used the original hardware. So this review is concerning only the plug-in. I don't have any first-hand experience how well the software version emulates the "real thing"... And I really don't care: the plugin sounds phenomenal and unique in it's own right!
EQF-100 is characteristic and colorful EQ. Although being extremely versatile, I wouldn't use for tracks that need very precise and surgical treatment; but if you have your sources well recorded and the original sound is good, you'll definitely have a great fun with EQF-100. The sound-sculpting possibilities are endless!!
EQF-100 isn't completely transparent: it does have a prominent sonical imprint. Although verbal descriptions are always subjective and obscure, I would call EQF-100 warm, thick, a tad dark, and yes, very "tubey".
TL-100A is your la-2a-style compressor, super easy to use, and always descent sounding. As far as "the tone" is concerned, I'd call it transparent, so if you need some opto-style compression but don't want to alter your original sound, TL-100A will do excellent job
All in all-Softube Summit Audio Grand Channel is wonderful channel strip. It's very analogue and tubey-sounding, with all the convenience that only a software can provide!!
