WA
expensive, but indispensible for double bass
Wallbox A 09.01.2022
The microphone this goes with is very cheaply priced, and now you know where they make their money with this system. This clip is ridiculously expensive, but on the whole it's still a good deal. You need this clip if you want to use this mic for double bass, period.
It fits very tightly on the strings and the mic, so as long as you don't go full-on Lee Rocker it should stay in place fine.

Essential but expensive

A ridiculously overpriced although necessary purchase for any bassist wishing to employ the excellent, and ironically incredibly reasonable, CC 100 gooseneck condenser microphone. Needless to say, this clip attaches to the afterlength between tailpiece and bridge, providing the microphone effective placement at the acoustic sweet-spot of the soundpost albeit at the expense of the player's ability to deploy the extended techniques of pizzicato and arco 'behind-the-bridge', at least on the A and D strings. The slots for these strings are an incredibly tight fight, something which I will generously describe as 'secure' although, being rubber, I imagine these will become more flexible over time and will hopefully do so not at the expense of the integrity of the product. Overall, a well-made item at an unnecessarily excessive price point.

Poor quality

It's not suitable for double bass, except on some instruments, where you can put it between the first and second strings, but even when it can be mounted it tends to be too far from the bridge and the body of the instrument, making the mic impossible to use for live situations.
The clamps are too small and wear out after a few uses, especially if you unmount the clip frequently. The rubber quality is poor and fragile.
