what more do you want?

ok well, lets get this straight from the outset, this cello cost less than 300 Euro! significantly less if im honest. and lets look at what you get for that. firstly it all comes in a, well a cello 'gig bag' which whilst not the best quality item in the world is still perfectly up to the task for which it is designed. next up is the bow, once again not exactly a beauty pageant winner but once you get it nicely rosined up it works a treat. next up is the cello its self and once again it wont win looks competitions although the black lacquer finnish is well applied and very even, now all that being said i honestly don't give a rats bottom what any instrument looks like because the real proof is in the sound, and let me tell you, for an instrument that cost 280 yo-yos it is well beyond any and all of my expectations, it may not stand up to a very expensive example but with its beautifully rich low tones through to its clear high notes and with a resonance that for the money truly has to be heard to be believed. if you are a seasoned cellist walk on by, but if you are starting the long long road to becoming a seasoned cellist then buy one. buy one now!
all in all i could not be happier with it and as far a service goes Thomann are the very best in the business, they even put half decent strings on it.....
happy happy bunny.

The instrument was baught for an absolut beginner in cello-playing with the pure intention of finding out whether the Cello is the right instrument which it did quite well.

Of course in this price level for a cello you cannot expect too much and have to live with a few drawbacks, such as a not so full, rather metalic sound and too lose pegs which tend to rewind while tuning. Also the bridge was cut with too little of a curve which made it hard not to hit other strings while playing - especially for a beginner.

But on the other hand it is a fully functional instrument that can show how to play the cello in general.

Cello Novice

I bought this for my partner.
She has previous experience playing a double bass when she was at school and can read sheet music. She has always wanted a Cello.
So far as a novice she is totally in love with it, especially it's looks. We have had a few issues tuning it but the internet has taught us well. As for sound quality, we are not experts but I can tell you it sounds great to us. I know that for a serious Cello player this would be an instrument you may advise people to avoid, but for a beginner I don't think you can go wrong with this instrument. For a long time now quality cheap modern electric/acoustic guitars have become easily available and affordable to novices and amateurs alike, this is the same thing but it's the Cello. You get everything you need to start you off including a very decent set of strings. The bow included may not be the best but it certainly plays a note well and is made to a high quality. The gig bag that is also included is of a high standard and I trust it to protect the cello as it should. There is even a small rosin block included along with a polishing kit.
If you are looking for a beginner 4/4 size Cello and don't want to break your bank account, my partner and I recommend this instrument.
All from a novice/amateur angle.

Very good value for money

I'm learning to play the instrument. This is great if you are just starting out. If you feel fine tunners are hard just clean them and apply oil, they will get way better. After 6 months or 100 hours of practice my only complaint is that the original bow broke with 30 hours of use. But you will get better and buy better components over time anyway.
