Vater VBLRB BD Beater Vintage Bomber

I remember the day I received this beater. It was a day that changed everything.

I have to mention that I have a 22'' bass drum - so I had to cut this elongated beater holder down. The "normal" size was out of stock at that point. I have an Evans Emad single ply batter head on my bass drum.

If you playing your standard wood, plastic or hard felt beaters, the bass drum ideally sounds and feels like a punch in the chest. With this beater its more like a thump somewhere in the lower abdomen. Not with a fist, but with the whole palm. Its strong. Its round. It's overwhelming, and you feel it all throughout your body. It feels like home, it feels smooth and sexy. It's simply amazing.

The attack and definition of the bass drum hits goes down when using the bomber, of course, but I feel that would only be a problem for metal or those crazy gospel licks - double strokes are still nicely distinguishable and you just can't ignore the absolutely fantastic sound.

nous l'utilisons sur une grosse caisse Ludwig fusion en diamètre 20", uniquement pour jouer du jazz. Le son est plus rond et plus profond qu'avec une batte classique, et cela convient bien à notre musique.
Assez rapidement, la surface de la batte est usée et laisse apparaitre la structure interne. Peut être que la batte pourrait être améliorée avec un revêtement de surface plus résistant.
