The idea is great, the feel as well for as long as they last and that is less than one song.
In a Jazz club at fairly low volume, first song I use them, I noticed single bamboo rods sticking out within two minutes of playing. Pushed them back in again several times to get to the end of the song. After that initial try out, I added some tape around them where the rods are connected to the sticks. This lasted for another three minutes until the whole bundle of bamboo sticks flew out of the stick.
For 35 bucks I would have hoped to be able to get through one show, however I haven't been able to finish a single song with those.
I might try to fill them up with hot glue and put the rods back in, but why didn't Vic Firth think of that? If they make single-use disposable sticks, at least give me a dispenser with 100 sticks so I can play one show with them.
Did I get a defective pair? Maybe, but there is no way to find out since I am not gonna spend the money on those again.
If you're thinking of buying them, buy them for the parts, don't rely on being able to use them as they come.
