I spent quite some time researching different options of clonewheels before landing on the Viscount Legend Soul 273. Thomann had this in stock, so I created an account and made my first purchase at Thomann’s.
The shopping experience was very good. Swift handling, and excellent feedback on the different steps in the process (shipping, tracking etc). I even got appointed a contact person. Kudos!
This organ blew my mind!
It has the same layout as “the real thing”, so navigating around was like coming home. I pressed the “B” preset, took out the first thre drawbars, adjusted percussion and set the chorus to C3. There it was; the famous “Jimmy Smith” setting, and it sounded like the real thing. And if that wasn’t enough - all the extra tweaks you could want is just a knob away. Adjusting the key click, crosstalk (leakage between the drawbars), reverb, amp gain and equalizer have their own knobs for easy access. And there are several tone wheel models to choose from, so you will most certainly be able to find your preferred sound.
The keybed is excellent. Sliding is a charm, and the responsiveness is just as you would expect.
I haven’t dived into all the different settings in the editing mode, but from the looks of it you can customize just about everything. Joey D. and Viscount really did a great job.
