First of all, thanks for the good service. And yes, the Zildjian L80's are good.
They do the job; lower volume. They feel natural. They sound sticky, clear, high pitched. But as you know, you can change the sound by using tape; the sound will be 'darker', 'shorter' and... harder (the less holes, the more volume).
But to make ONE thing clear; they are great PRACTICE cymbals.
The L80's match excellent together, although the hihat is louder in balance IMHO.
The hihat is faster then a normal hihat. No air pressure.
Using these cymbals with mesh heads? The mesh heads will be more silent, too silent for these cymbals, but of course, with tape or stickers you can change the volume and sound of the mesh heads. You really should put some stickers on the BD for sure. Check YouTube for more advice.
Update: in the end, several years later; yes they are the best low volume cymbals I ever bought. The overall quality is better. And they stay good, in comparison with other brands.
