The pros:
- Added sustain, glorious for soloing, especially using the mid-boost circuit
- Zero noise (even quieter than my passive humbuckers in other guitars I have)
- The extreme versatility thanks to the SPC and EXP options will allow you to play almost anything with this set
- Great professional setup of pickups and electronics for an upgraded guitar
The cons:
- Takes away a bit of the chime that makes a strat sound like a real strat, sounding a bit smoother, darker and more compressed (the EXP circuit can somewhat compensate for that, if well used)
- Less percussive/less note "projection", but this somehow allows the chords to sound much more massive and the lead runs more fluid, with great harmonic content.
All in all, if you're willing to sacrifice that last wee bit of genuine strat sound, this setup will take anything you throw at it and make it sound, at the very least, decent. In most cases, awesome. I call it "the compromise setup". Also, the bk/bk option looks absolutely stunning on my natural finished 70's Classic Vibe.
Great upgrade!
Upgraded a Squier Classic Vibe 70's. My thoughts:

Excellent tone and very easy to install (with 1 proviso)
Rick A 06.11.2022
Yep these are every bit as great sounding as promised. I love them and I am very happy. Also they (generally speaking) could not be easier to fit.
This particular pickup set went into my cherry sunburst American Elite stratocaster and the black guard and pickup covers looks just as good as the pickups sound. Now to my provisio. The American Elite's truss rod is adjusted at the bottom rather than at the top like with most strats. Because of this, you need cut a square shape out of the pickguard that comes with the kit or it will not fit. This is only an issue with bottom-adjusting truss rods, so it's easy to check in advance, and I di manage to cut the pickguard as required, though I wish I'd managed a neater job.

Great EMG bundle!
Pink Freud 22.01.2025
This is a really great bundle for people like me that sucks at soldering. You get 3 x EMG SA pickups + the EXG expander in a solderless prewired package that to me sounds fantastic. The only downside with the DG20 is that it will not actually make you play guitar like David Gilmour. This is very disappointing but expected at this price point.
