Looks epic, but it's not perfect

Looking through Thomann's collection of 12-string capos. This was the only one with an appealing design to me.

The build quality is very good, and I'm not at all worried that it will break.

It has a very epic and professional look to it, but I wish it was a bit more ergonomic. I like the ones that you squeeze from below instead of from the top. Even after heavy use, It still feels a bit unnatural.

The rubber (Capo Boot) slides off with usage, so I have to pull it back onto the capo every now and then. It's not a big problem, but the issue is if it would slide all the way off, which has happened to me. You then risk losing the rubber part and that would make the capo unusable until you get the replacement part.

Though, despite the ergonomics not being perfect and so on. It does what it's supposed to do. It definitely creates enough pressure to hold down all the 12 strings without any issues.

Out of what Thomann has available at the time of writing this article, I would still go for this one again.

Questions and Answers

Is it worthwhile getting a 12-string capo?

Yes. Although the main difference between this one and the Kyser 6-string capo is a slightly tighter spring to hold everything in place.

Would my Kyser 6-string capo do just as good a job?

In hindsight I would not advise rushing out to get this capo unless the ones you already had didn't fit your 12-string guitar?

Can it work on my 6-string guitar?

If you're feeling lazy you can transfer this capo from your 12-string to your 6-string without any cause for concern. The only thing I would make you aware of is that the spring is tighter than the Kyser 6-string capo and therefore might cause tuning issues on 6-string guitars with lighter gauge strings.

Great capo

I use it not only on my 12 string guitar but also on my other guitar and it works perfectly. It's a little hard to open but that's good because you're sure it presses al the strings well
