O
Marcus Miller V7 Bass Guitar
Operaticbabe 29.05.2021
I've been saving up for this bass for about a year and when it arrived I was slightly disappointed. I had tried the V7 in a music shop and knew that this was the bass guitar for me. When my bass arrived and I set it up ready to play, I noticed how rough the edges of the frets were. My cheap bass has smooth edges but on this new bass they were rough and sharp. To the point where my skin had cut marks. The description says rolled edges but mine feel awful.
I was also disappointed that the bass is now strung with Ernie Ball and not D'addario strings but I guess it doesn't really matter. I can change the strings to suit my needs and taste.
The actual bass itself is great. The preamp is really useful and I'm enjoying trying the different sounds that I can now make on this bass. It's quite a heavy bass and so I'm using a padded strap to try and distribute the weight.
I love the colours of these basses. Mine is the burgundy although I would call it metallic dusty rose pink!! It's causing quite a stir in our band because it is such a great sounding bass.

I highly recommend this bass despite the edges of the frets being rough. I'm sure I will get used to it the more often I play. It is quite heavy but not as heavy as a Fender jazz bass. It plays beautifully and I love it.

Pros - great colours, great sound, extremely well made and weighs less than a Fender Jazz

Cons - for me it's the not so smooth rolled edges and it's slightly heavy

All in all though, it's a great bass and I recommend anyone thinking about buying it to watch Marcus Miller explaining how he came to help design the bass and to listen to him explaining how each knob works. This has been an invaluable lesson for me!!

T
Great sounding bass.

When I purchased the bass the neck was off set in the neck pocket. I fixedbthat easily with the help of a youtube video. Also fret edges were sharp. I think better quality control will make these instruments perfect. Other than sound and playability is awesome!

Absoloutely Perfect

After hearing good things about Sire basses I thought I'd finally splash the cash and I was not disappointed!

Firstly, it came out of the box with a really good setup with a very low action which is always nice to see. The bass feels really good in the hands, the rolled fretboard edges are great and I dont see why more manufacturers dont do this.

Now, lets talk about the monster of an EQ this thing has. The tonal capabilities of this Jazz bass are near endless. If I want a killer slap tone, I can get that. If I want a warm tone for walking bass, I can get that.

I would recommend this bass to everyone. At that price you really cant go wrong!

KL
Incredible value for money

These instruments have gained a justifiably high reputation.
It's not solely because of their affordability. Rather, they feel, play, sound, and look, fantastic!
First off, the neck - the heavily rolled fingerboard edges sit so comfortably in your playing hand, with smoothly rounded off fret ends. This means that your playing experience is never a struggle.
The pickups sound really full with the glassy top end "snap" that you associate with vintage style pickups. Combined with the onboard preamp, the sound is full, articulate, and can cover any situation you'll find yourself in.
The body colour on mine (with a matching headstock) is a super cool Burgundy Mist - it looks the business!!!
I am so impressed by these instruments that I have bought three so far, and have another on back order!
