Perfect wood care made easy

A wide range of musical instruments are made from wood, including the majority of guitars, recorders, clarinets, and many other wind and string instruments. Wood is a natural, living material that needs to be cared for properly to prevent it from splitting, cracking, or looking unsightly. This is particularly true for unfinished wood, which can be found on guitar and violin fingerboards, quite a few guitar necks, and many other wood-based instrument parts. Inspired by traditional master instrument makers who have always relied on natural oils for the protection of wooden surfaces, MusicNomad now offers an oil formula that has been specially developed for the treatment of fingerboards and other instrument parts made from wood: The F-one Oil.

MusicNomad Fretboard F-one Oil fingerboard oil

100% natural ingredients

The MusicNomad Fretboard F-one Oil comprises a mixture of various vegetable oils of natural origin and is therefore 100% free of waxes, paraffins, or any other ingredients of fossil origin. What is more, MusicNomad chose to not use any lemon oil (despite its widespread popularity) because of the high acidity level contained that can damage an instrument's paint. The F-one Oil soaks into the wood and dries very quickly, and makes the wood look brand-new without feeling sticky. And all those who are very sensitive to scents will be thrilled to hear that the F-one Oil also has an extremely pleasant smell.

Essential for players and techs

The Fretboard F-one Oil from MusicNomad is one of the most essential accessories that no guitar repair shop, service department, or guitarist should be without, because after all, it's the small things that don't cost much and make life easier for the guitar and the player. For example, the fast-absorbing oil will prevent unfinished fingerboard wood from dehydrating and undesired fret sprout from developing during a particularly dry winter season. Guitar owners can confidently trust the experts, because the F-one Oil is the number one choice of numerous renowned guitar manufacturers worldwide.

About MusicNomad

MusicNomad was founded by Rand Rognlien, a specialist for automotive paint care products and a passionate hobby musician. When he launched the MusicNomad web portal in 2008 to build a network for himself and his fellow musicians along the lines of Facebook, he needed a strategy to raise the necessary funds. That was when Rand's extensive professional expertise came into play and he started to develop professional instrument care products for all kinds of materials and surfaces, from lacquer and metal to bare wood, which he soon complemented by a selection of special tools. Since then, MusicNomad has become a household name in music communities in over 50 countries worldwide and is the preferred choice of numerous renowned guitar manufacturers, such as Taylor Guitars and Martin Guitars.

Mess-free application

Every guitar owner should clean and maintain their instrument on a regular basis, even if it's only once in a blue moon, and the perfect occasion is during string replacement. When the strings have all been removed (which master luthiers assure us won't do any harm to the guitar, regardless of whether it's electric or acoustic), the oil can be easily applied to the fingerboard via the specially designed applicator and worked into the wood using a brush, such as MusicNomad's special brush (available separately). After ten minutes, any residual oil that was not absorbed by the wood should be removed with a clean cloth.

The Best Fretboard Oil in The Market
cigilovic.com 29.08.2023
Recently purchased this as I used to use it exclusively a decade ago. It had been pretty difficult to find F-One Oil in the EU market for a long time. Fortunately, Thomann has had these in stock for some time, excellent!

I believe it's the best 100% natural essential oil blend for your unfinished fingerboards. I was also using Sandberg Fingerboard Oil which is also a 100% natural oil. However, I find Music Nomad superior as they are a specialised company in this niche field.

I used to experiment with cold press essential oils made from lemon, citrus, mint and grape seeds for an alternative fretboard care oil. I had even written an article about this.

Almost all the other products (except Sandberg Fingerboard Oil) in the market are petroleum-based oils with added synthetic lemon (Limonene) molecules. (Check out my article on Google by searching for my nickname).

Basically, most of the time we buy mineral oil with added essence and fragrance. But F-One is different. It smells like nature!

If you are picky about what you put on your guitar fretboard, this is it! 100% recommended by a guitar nerd!

Works fine on roasted maple.

I use it on the whole roasted maple neck of a Jackson Pro Series HT7, works beautifully. It has no smell, it isn't sticky at all. I used to use Ernie Ball Wet Wipes before (those have a citrus scent). This one costs way less in the long run.
