Precise monitoring in a compact design

The Presonus Eris Studio Pro 8 is an active coaxial studio monitor from the Eris series, which is equipped with a tweeter and woofer for a generous frequency range of 35Hz to 20kHz. Working as a single acoustic point source and delivering an output of 140W, the speaker can achieve an impressive sound pressure level (SPL) of 108dB at a distance of one metre, while its special consistent acoustic centre design ensures superior phase coherence and a wide sweet spot. An excellent transient response is also delivered courtesy of the tweeter's silk-dome design, while the woven-composite woofer provides a clear bass reproduction. In addition, flexible connection options at the rear of the monitor allow seamless integration into any setup.

Expressive sound for every room

In combination with the bass reflex opening, the 8" woofer covers the low frequencies of the Presonus Eris Pro 8, reproducing frequencies of 35Hz and above, while the 1.25" tweeter is characterised by its low weight and delivers a clear transient response. The rear of the monitor is equipped with flexible connection options, above which the sound adjustment options and gain control can be found. Highs and mids from 10kHz and 1kHz, respectively, can be continuously reduced and amplified by up to 6dB to enable suitable integration into an acoustic room, while the low-pass filter setting can be adjusted to 80Hz or 100Hz. The Acoustic Space control filters frequencies below 800Hz by either -2dB or -4dB to counteract any over-emphasis of these frequencies that occurs when the Presonus Eris Pro 8 is placed close to a wall.

Flexibility ensured

Featuring symmetrical dispersion patterns, the Presonus Eris Pro 8 has been created to deliver precise imaging of both stereo and immersive mixes. Mounting points on the sides of the monitor enable mounting on studio walls or ceilings for larger 3D audio setups. The balanced 6.3mm TRS jack, unbalanced RCA jack, and the XLR input at the rear of the monitor also enable flexible integration into any setup, while a range of adjustment options, which can also be found at the rear of the monitor, allow the sound to be adapted to the specific acoustic space, resulting in an optimum sound even in the smallest of production areas. In addition to extensive flexibility, integrated protection circuits comprising RF shielding, output current limitation, and over-temperature and subsonic protection functions ensure that the Presonus Eris Pro 8 also delivers in terms of reliability.

About Presonus

Presonus is a US company founded in 1995 by Jim Odom and Brian Smith in Baton Rouge, Lousiana. The firm designs hardware and software at both professional and more affordable levels for musicians and producers. Presonus first made a splash in the mid-1990s with the DCP8, an eight-channel analogue compressor/limiter/gate with fader and mute automation that could be digitally controlled by MIDI. In the early 2000s followed a series of microphone amplifiers and the first audio interfaces for the then-emerging home studio scene. Today, the company's product range includes audio interfaces, microphone preamps, digital mixing consoles, and studio monitors as well as the established DAW software Studio One.

Optimum setup for the perfect sound

The Presonus Eris Pro 8, which weighs in at 9.7kg, can be installed on a suitable stand with a minimum support surface of 30cm². Produced from vinyl-laminated MDF and featuring rounded edges for an elegant design, the Eris Pro 8 will make an impact in any music studio. For the optimum stereo triangle, two of these monitor models can simply be arranged at a distance of one meter apart and equidistant from the listener, ensuring a 30° angle between both monitors and the listener. Ideally, the monitor should be positioned 20 to 30cm from the wall, but if this is not achievable with the Presonus Eris Pro 8, the Acoustic Space switch can be used to compensate for increased bass caused by reflections. The use of short cable routes is recommended with the Presonus Eris Pro 8 in order to avoid noise interference in the monitor signal.
